The 2021 Aston Martin DBX: What the critics say

-

Motor Trend

The DBX isn’t just the first SUV produced by Aston Martin; “it’s also maybe the best Aston Martin ever.” With its “superb” chassis, potent V-8, and “silky, feelsome” steering, this ultra-luxe five-seater ranks as “one of the most composed and engaging SUVs we’ve ever driven.” When fully unleashed, it “damned near handles, rides, looks, and sounds” like the boutique British automaker’s finest sports car. Crucially, though, it’s the superior daily driver. “When it’s time to calm down, the DBX becomes totally docile.”

“Inside, Aston Martin has put more apparent care into the cabin components than it has in any vehicle in years.” Sumptuous leather wraps the dash and ergonomic sport seats, and “everything feels weighty and well-made.” That neither of the screens on the dash is touch-sensitive might be the DBX’s only flaw other than its “abysmal” 15 mpg fuel-efficiency rating. Its comfort, features, and spaciousness otherwise make it “a pleasantly livable daily driver.”

A year ago, Aston Martin was facing potential bankruptcy. Fortunately, the 108-yearold company can still produce “a truly special vehicle.” You could pay roughly as

‘The best Aston ever,’ from $179,986

much, and be content, with a Lamborghini Urus or Porsche Cayenne Turbo. “Or you could buy an SUV that’s just as fun as either, looks better than both, and is probably going to remain considerably rarer.”
