It’s a shame that C.T. Vivian died before he could receive accolades for the life of service he revisits in his memoir, said Wanda Lloyd in The Washington Post. Martin Luther King Jr. called Vivian “the greatest preacher ever to live,” and the Missouri native was an early player in several major civil rights organizations. Vivian waited until his 90s to write about that work, leaving his co-author to fill in blanks with help from old stories. Still, this is “an important new book.”
