■ ABC temporarily removed GMA3 anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes from the air this week after The Daily Mail (U.K.) reported that the married anchors have carried out an affair since March. Robach and Holmes tacitly acknowledged their relationship after the Mail story by arriving together at the studio, and then giddily joking on the air about having a “great week.” The network said that although Robach, 49, and Holmes, 45, didn’t break company rules, they’d become a “distraction” both in the studio and to viewers, so their assignments were being reviewed. The anchors say their relationship started after they each ended a 12-year marriage. Robach reportedly separated from her husband this summer, but Holmes’ wife, Marilee Fiebig, was reportedly “devastated” by news of the affair. Before Holmes’ affair with Robach, the New York Post reports, he had a three-year relationship with a Good Morning America producer.

■ Will Smith says he slapped presenter Chris Rock at March’s Academy Awards because of “a rage that had been bottled for a really long time.” In his first interview since rushing the stage, Smith, 54, told The Daily Show that he’d grown up watching his father beat his mother, and that “I lost it” when Rock made fun of Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, for being bald—the result of alopecia. Smith has apologized to Rock and is banned from Oscar ceremonies for 10 years. Smith said he would “absolutely respect” if audiences don’t want to see his new movie, Emancipation. Apple has delayed releasing the movie about an escaped slave because of the fallout over Smith’s slap.
