■ Conservative media mogul Rupert Murdoch will marry a fifth time, after proposing last week to Ann Lesley Smith, a former San Francisco police chaplain. Murdoch, 92, whose media empire includes Fox News and The Wall Street Journal, told the NewYork Post that he and Smith, 66, plan to wed this summer and are “both looking forward to spending the second half of our lives together.” They met last September, a month after Murdoch finalized his divorce from model Jerry Hall. “I dreaded falling in love” again, Murdoch said, “but I knew this would be my last. It better be.” Smith’s late husband, country singer Chester Smith, also ran TV and radio stations. “I speak Rupert’s language,” she said. “We share the same beliefs.”

■ Olympic rowing legend Ted Nash sexually abused a 13-year-old girl in 1973, his alleged victim, Jennifer Fox, said this week. Nash, a charismatic two-time medalist and longtime Olympic coach, died in 2021 at age 88. Fox’s allegations were the basis of the 2018TV movie The Tale, starring Laura Dern, but the film used a pseudonym for Fox’s abuser. She said she decided to publicly name Nash after reading “glowing, vomitous” obituaries about “how amazing this human being is.” Fox said the 6-foot-4 Nash, who coached girls and women in running, pressured her into having sex multiple times; she says she ended the relationship after Nash suggested a foursome. One of the planned participants, Robin Stryker, then 19, confirmed the foursome story. “I was relieved that Jenny wouldn’t be there,” Stryker said. Nash’s first wife, Aldina Nash-Hampe, said she left him over his affairs with “many, many women.”

■ Gwyneth Paltrow was strongly criticized last week after the celebrity influencer described her extreme diet of eating only bone broth for lunch many days and paleo dinners with almost no carbohydrates. The actress and Goop founder is pushing a “starvation diet,” said Meghan McCain, former co-host of The View. Model Tess Holliday, who battled anorexia, said diets like Paltrow’s are “affecting a whole other generation of young folks.” Paltrow, 50, said her extreme diet has helped her long-Covid symptoms, and said they weren’t “meant to be advice for anyone else.”
