The Week’s guide to what’s worth watching
Bupkis
Throughout his short career, Pete Davidson has been a high-profile enigma: a Staten Island drug addict who lucked his way onto Saturday Night Live, still lives in his mom’s basement, and hooks up with one A-list celebrity beauty after another. Or so the story goes. Davidson tells the story his way in this as-crazy-as-you-think-it’s-gonnabe new series based on his life. He’s brought in plenty of heavies to help, notably Edie Falco and Joe Pesci, who play his mother and his grandfather. Available Thursday, May 4, Peacock
The Other Two
It’s tough living in the shadow of a far more talented, far younger brother. As Brooke and Cary Dubek, the older siblings of teen pop sensation Chase Dreams, Helene Yorke and Drew Tarver proved that in the first two seasons of this acclaimed comedy. Chase is now a grown-up pop star, Mom is still flying high as a talk-show host, and Brooke and Cary, while better positioned, can’t stop feeling like underachievers. With Molly Shannon and Case Walker. Returns Thursday, May 4, HBO Max
Silo
As post-apocalyptic series go, Silo isn’t The
Last of Us. But it will scratch that itch should you need it. Based on a popular novel series, the show ushers viewers into an underground structure that burrows downward hundreds of stories, ostensibly to shelter its inhabitants from the toxic world above. The status quo is shaken when a curious engineer, played by Rebecca Ferguson, begins to have doubts about what lies above. David Oyelowo, Rashida Jones, Common, and Tim Robbins co-star. Debuts Friday, May 5, Apple TV+
The Articulate Hour
Artificial intelligence is grabbing all the headlines, but there’s still something special about being human. Each episode in this new series turns to scholars and artists to discuss a different universal trait that fuels and shapes human creativity. Back-to-back premiere episodes tackle memory, then our conflicting needs for solitude and connection. Friday, May 5, at 9 p.m., PBS; check local listings
White House Plumbers
In retrospect, the Watergate scandal does seem a perfect subject for political satire. In this fivepart series, Woody Harrelson and Justin Theroux play E. Howard Hunt and G. Gordon Liddy, the two behind-the-scenes operatives who bumbled their way into prison terms, and the downfall of their guy, Richard Nixon. New episodes arrive every Monday, with Episode 2 introducing a sub-scandal that briefly gives Hunt and Liddy a chance to redeem themselves. Available Monday, May 8, HBO and HBO Max
