The Good Place
It’s still hard to believe that this comedy aired on network TV. Creator Michael Schur brilliantly packed the heaviest philosophical and religious questions into one of the funniest shows you’ll find, with Kristen Bell starring as a jerk who lands in a heavenly afterlife owing to a clerical error. Miracle Workers
Steve Buscemi and Daniel Radcliffe co-starred in this recent anthology series based on Nathan Rich’s comic fiction. In Season 1, Buscemi played God and Radcliffe an angel trying to persuade his boss not to give up on humanity and pour all his attention into other hobbies. HBO Max
Dead Like Me
Bryan Fuller’s underrated series lasted just two seasons, but it’s a terrific tale about a teenager recruited to serve as a grim reaper after being hit by debris from the Mir Space Station. Roku Channel
Pushing Daisies
Fuller was also behind this great series about a pie maker who can bring the dead back to life with his touch. HBO Max
Preacher
This great and gory dark comedy series follows a preacher with a drinking problem who is suddenly infused with the power to command obedience from others. He sets out to understand his power and to find God. Hulu
