■ The labor participat­ion rate for women ages 25 to 54 reached a record high 77.5 percent in April, surpassing a peak reached in 2000, according to U.S. data going back to the 1940s. Participat­ion among women 55 and older has been stuck near pandemic-era lows. Bloomberg

■ The box office is beginning to catch up to pre-pandemic levels. Theater-released films generated $1.8 billion during the first three months of this year, about 25 percent less than the same period in 2019.
