Secret Invasion

Unleash the Fury. Nick Fury, that is. Samuel L. Jackson returns as S.H.I.E.L.D.’s top man in a new Marvel series in which he will be waging a fairly lonely battle against an army of Skrulls— shape-shifting aliens who have spent years secretly infiltrating Earth’s power centers, replacing the world’s leaders. Olivia Colman, Don Cheadle, Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke, Cobie Smulders, and Ben Mendelsohn fill out the top-shelf supporting cast. Wednesday, June 21, Disney+

The Stroll

Before New York City’s Meatpacking District became an upscale playground, a patch of it belonged to trans sex workers who were mostly women of color. Kristen Lovell, who walked 14th Street when it was known as “The Stroll,” created this award-winning documentary by gathering old friends and peers to create a decades-spanning portrait of the scene. Many trans women recall turning to sex work because they had few other options. They also describe finding a community, one that did its best to protect its members from violence. Wednesday, June 21, at 9 p.m., HBO

And Just Like That...

The series that reunited Sex and the City’s

Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte last year was surprisingly bad at times. But viewers showed up, giving the show a second chance to be as smart about women in their 50s as the playful original was about women in their 30s. After skipping Season 1, Kim Cattrall will return as Samantha, the missing fourth friend, in this season’s final episode. John Corbett will arrive earlier, rekindling a past romance with Sarah Jessica Parker’s Carrie. Thursday, June 22, Max

The Gold

This strong BBC drama series tells the story from all sides, beginning with the robbers who expected to walk away from a Brink’s-Mat airport storage facility with a healthy cash haul but instead stumbled upon gold bullion worth more than $100 million.
