Full Swing

It’s tee time for a second season of this hit documentary golf series, which takes viewers behind the scenes of the PGA tour. The new round of episodes covers the stunning announcement of a plan to merge the PGA and LIV circuits, seeing it through the eyes of players who cashed in on the Saudi-backed tour’s big-money offers and those who shunned the upstart. Featured golfers include Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, and Dustin Johnson. Wednesday, March 6, Netflix

The Gentlemen

Are we in the midst of a Guy Ritchie renaissance? The director best known for laddish gangster movies looks to build on the solid reviews for his last film with this spin-off series based on his 2019 movie of the same name. Theo James (The White Lotus) stars as a young Englishman who inherits his father’s sizable estate and discovers the land is part of a gangster’s cannabis empire. Ray Winstone, Joely Richardson, and Kaya Scodelario co-star. Thursday, March 7, Netflix

Ricky Stanicky

Long live the bro comedy. A genre that’s been on life support since the Hangover trilogy ended 11 years ago gets a jolt from this pretty OK (aren’t they all?) tale of three friends who for decades have used the crises of a made-up friend named Ricky Stanicky as cover for clandestine brodowns. When their bluff gets called, the trio hire a disheveled actor, played with gusto by John Cena, to masquerade as Stanicky. Zac Efron, Jermaine Fowler, and Andrew Santino co-star. Thursday, March 7, Prime

2024 State of the Union

The political stakes couldn’t be much higher for Joe Biden. Vexed by persistent questions about age-related decline, the 81-year-old president gets a prime-time opportunity to allay concerns as he visits Capitol Hill to report on the nation’s fitness. Expect him to tout infrastructure investment, a strong job market, and cooling inflation, and take Congress to task for inaction on border security and aid to Ukraine and Israel. First Time Female Director

Talk about meta: First-time female director Chelsea Peretti stars as a first-time female director who gets a crack at directing a local theater production outside Los Angeles after a male director is sidelined for inappropriate conduct. Laughs come easily with a crack cast and cameos by Amy Poehler, Tim Heidecker, Jordan Peele, and Adam Scott. Friday, March 8, Roku

2024 Academy Awards

The year of “Barbenheimer” carries into the late-arriving Oscars, with Greta Gerwig’s Barbie and Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer entering the night with a combined 21 nominations. There was no Best Director nod for Gerwig, which stirred controversy, but it’s otherwise a strong year for women, with Celine Song’s Past Lives and Justine Triet’s Anatomy of a Fall joining Barbie in the Best Picture category. Jimmy Kimmel hosts. Sunday, March 10, at 7 p.m., ABC
