The 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe: What the critics say

-

Road & Track

“As good to drive as it looks,” the “roomy, stylish” new Hyundai Santa Fe is hard to find fault with. Though it’s boxier than the outgoing model, it’s so smooth on the road that it feels “a bit like a spa,” with high-quality interior styling to match. With its 277-hp turbo-charged four-cylinder engine, “it’s not a quick machine, but it moves.” And when the third and second rows are folded, it can easily double as a camper.

Edmunds

If you’re looking for a “not-massive” seven-seat SUV, “you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better option.” The boldly restyled Santa Fe has “serious road presence,” and the cabin, especially if you choose the $46,500 Calligraphy trim, is “a really nice place to rack up miles.” For an SUV, the steering is “well-balanced and responsive,” and body roll is limited. A hybrid model will arrive later this year, likely delivering combined fuel efficiency better than 34 mpg, compared with 24 in the standard model.

Consumer Reports

“Many buyers will wish the third row could simply be omitted,” because those seats aren’t spacious enough for regular use, and there’s very little rear cargo when they’re not folded. Still, we love the Santa Fe’s “beautifully finished” interior and its “confident and capable” road manners. Even if you opt for the entry-level trim, “you’re still left with a compelling SUV.”
