Mary Joan Hannan

Mary Joan Hannan died Sunday, June 12, 2016, after battling cancer for 17 years.

She is survived by her husband, Michael Hannan, of Bella Vista, Ark.; four children, Jenny, Sara, Joe and Chris; and extended family.

Arthur David Jeffery

Art David Jeffery, 62, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sunday, June 5, 2016. He was born Nov. 5, 1953, and was raised in Riverside, Calif.

He relocated to Bella Vista with the love of his life, Jutti, who preceded him in death.

He loved his country and served as an accomplish­ed expert rifleman in the U.S. Marine Corps.

Prior to retiring in 2012, he was employed by Decision Point, where he helped countless others. He had no relatives. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Monte Jerome Staha

Monte Jerome Staha, 76, of Gravette, Ark., died Friday, June 10, 2016. He was born May 23, 1940, in Hallettsvi­lle, Texas, to Jerry and Frances Kovar Staha.

He was an honor graduate of Sacred Heart (Hallettsvi­lle, Texas) High School. He was an allstate high school running back. He graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, with a degree in pharmacy after turning down a football scholarshi­p offer from Texas A&M. He married Naomi Ann Hrncir, also from Hallettsvi­lle, on June 2, 1962.

After graduating from UT, he worked as a pharmacist at the University of Texas Medical Center in Galveston. He and Ann moved to Arkansas in 1964 to pursue higher education at the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock. In 1966, a business opportunit­y with Dunhall Pharmaceut­icals relocated the family to Gravette. Dunhall Pharmaceut­icals later became Omnii Internatio­nal, and he served as president and CEO for more than 30 years.

He and Ann raised their family in Northwest Arkansas and built several successful businesses. He was active in the communitie­s of Gravette, Siloam Springs, and Bella Vista, Ark., as well as the Catholic parish communitie­s of Nativity of Our Lord in Noel, Mo., and St. Bernard of Clairvaux in Bella Vista.

He loved football and most sports, competitio­n, culture, travel and music. As a parishione­r of St. Bernard Catholic Church, he served in many church ministries. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as an officer and a participan­t in numerous charitable activities.

His retirement years were spent ranching, gardening, working outdoors, traveling (especially to the Czech Republic), studying, being a grandfathe­r and serving as a constant cheerleade­r for his family. He lived in Arkansas for more than 50 years. However, as in the case of most native Texans, the great state of Texas never left his soul.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Staha; and a grandson, Max Crespo.

He is survived by his wife, Ann; three children, Kimberley Wary and husband, John, of Rogers, Ark., Kandice Crespo and husband, Tom, of Dallas, and Derek Staha and wife, Jennifer, of Houston; six grandchild­ren, Megan Wary of Denver, Nickolas Wary of Fayettevil­le, Ark., Zackary Wary of Winston-Salem, N.C., Alex and Christophe­r Crespo of Dallas, Madison Staha of Houston; a brother, Ron Staha and wife, Mariette, of Hallettsvi­lle; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.

A Mass of the Resurrecti­on will be celebrated at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church in Bella Vista, Saturday, June 18, 2016, at 10 a.m. with the Holy Rosary preceding the Mass at 9:30 a.m.

Private interment will take place at a later date.

Memorial contributi­ons may be made to the Knights of Columbus Council 9514 Scholarshi­p Fund; or St. Bernard Youth Education Fund, 1 St. Bernard Lane, Bella Vista, AR 72715; or Arkansas Right to Life, 1515 S. University Ave., Little Rock AR 72204.

Betty K. Stoneman

Betty K. Stoneman, 97, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Wednesday, June 8, 2016. She was born April 8, 1919, in Allen County, Ind., to Oscar and Mildred McMahon.

She was a member of the profession­al and business women’s associatio­n, Beta Sigma Phi. As a resident of Bella Vista for 41 years, she was also a charter member of Bella Vista Community Church, choir member and Village Bell Ringers.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, John J. Stoneman.

She is survived by her children, John J. Stoneman III of Henderson, Nev., and Thomas L. Stoneman of Frisco, Texas; a sister, Nila Thurman of Mesa, Ariz.; three grandchild­ren; and three great-grandchild­ren.

Memorial services were held Monday, June 13, 2016, at Concordia On The Hill. Dr. Anna Teel officiated.

Memorials may be made to the charity of donor’s choice.

Arrangemen­ts were under the direction of Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.
