Ruby Ann Brown

Ruby Ann Brown, 75, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at Circle of Life Hospice Legacy Village. She was born Aug. 9, 1941, in Warrens- burg, Mo., to Homer and Ruby Wilson.

She married Donald Brown in 1963. She worked for the Bella Vista Property Owners Associatio­n for more than six years before going to work for Duffers Café. She made many friends in her 19-year tenure there.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Brown, in November 2011.

She is survived by her two sons, Douglas Brown and Denise Tazelaar-Gates of Gowen, Mich., and Todd Brown and Amy Capano of Mount Bethel, Pa.; a sister, Carol Shadwick and husband Britt of Stover, Mo.; two grandchild­ren, Brent and Chelsea; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at Bella Vista Community Church. Dr. Anna Teel officiated.

Memorials may be made to Bella Vista Community Church or charity of the donor’s choice.

Isabelle ‘Toni’ Doré

Isabelle “Toni” Doré, 86, died at her home in Bella Vista, Ark., on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016. She was born July 25, 1930, in Wakpala, S.D., to Steven and Helen Schatz.

She was the second of five children. The Schatz family moved to Yakima in 1940, where she attended and graduated from Saint Joseph Academy.

She married Raymond O. Doré on April 10, 1950, and three children were born from this union. They celebrated 66 years of marriage in April.

She loved fashion and entertaini­ng family and friends. She was hostess for many elegant dinner parties. She enjoyed traveling. She received many awards for her long, successful career in sales.

She was well known for her grace and style in fashion and was always a welldresse­d, beautiful lady.

She was proceeded in death by a son, Mark A. Doré; and a grandson, Cody Montgomery.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond O. Doré; two children, Michael Doré and Tamra Montgomery Doré; six grandchild­ren, Cris Doré, Sabrina Doré, Brooks Montgomery, Mark Montgomery, Tyler Montgomery, Annie Montgomery McMullen; and five great-grandchild­ren, Isabella, Cody, Jordan, Joaquin and Santiago.

Allen ‘Al’ Oliver Erickson

Allen “Al” Oliver Erickson,

76, of Bella Vista, Ark., following a 10-year battle with breast cancer, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, at Circle of Life Hospice surrounded by his family. He was born March 1, 1940, to Oliver and Lillian Schau Erickson in Battle Creek, Iowa.

He served as a medic in the 34th Red Bull Division Army National Guard for eight years, was a graduate of Gale Institute in Minneapoli­s, Minn., and held two patents from his career as a mechanical design engineer with Case Corp. After 32 years of service in new product developmen­t at Case plants in Bettendorf, Iowa, Wausau, Wis., and Fargo, N.D., he retired in 1997 and moved to Bella Vista.

After retirement, he started Advantage Windshield Repair, which brought him much happiness and many friends. He served on the board of the Bella Vista Business Associatio­n, was a member of the Bella Vista Fly-Tyers Club, and the Presbyteri­an Church of Bella Vista, where he sang with the Chancel Choir. He enjoyed spending time with his family and vacationin­g, traveling to all 50 states during his lifetime. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and fly tying.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kimberly Ann; his parents; his stepfather, Wallace Johnson; and father-in-law and mother-inlaw, Donald and Geraldine Harris.

He is survived by Vicki, his wife of 52 years; two daughters, Kristine King and husband Douglas of Apple Valley, Minn., and Melissa Peacock and husband Thomas, of Lowell, Ark.; grandchild­ren, Alexander and Emily King, Zachary Bowman, Isabel and Cooper Peacock; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Don and Lyn Harris and Steve and Kathy Franklin of Bella Vista, and Dan and Bonnie Thornton of Sioux City, Iowa; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at the Presbyteri­an Church of Bella Vista with the Rev. Dennis Ritchie and the Rev. Liz Wagner officiatin­g. Internment will be in the church’s Memorial Garden Columbariu­m.

Margaret Louise George

Margaret Louise George, 57, of Bella Vista, Ark., died surrounded by her family Monday, Nov. 28, 2016, at Circle of Life Hospice House in Bentonvill­e, Ark. She was born Feb. 3, 1959, in Benton, Ark., to Garland and Georgie Pierce.

She was a member of Bible Missionary Church of Rogers, Ark., and a charter member of the Benton Bible Missionary Church for 30 years. She was a licensed psychiatri­c technician nurse for many years in the medical field.

She enjoyed watching birds and loved snowmen.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, John Pierce, Charlie Pierce and William Pierce; and a sister, Daisy Ward.

She is survived by her husband, Jamie George, to whom she was married for 40 years; two daughters, Heather Herron and husband Jason of Bentonvill­e, and Monica Beverly and husband Steve of Bentonvill­e; two sons, Jeremiah George and wife Krista of Cabot, Ark., and Joseph George and wife Amanda of Fayettevil­le, Ark.; 10 grandchild­ren; and two sisters, Marjorie Clark and Helen Jones, both of Benton.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Epting Funeral Home located at 709 N. Walton Blvd., Bentonvill­e.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at Bible Missionary Church located at 3009 N. 13th St., Rogers, with the Rev. Robert Christian and the Rev. Jim Roberts officiatin­g. Interment will follow at Bentonvill­e Cemetery.

Carl G. Johnson Jr.

Carl G. Johnson Jr., 88, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, at his home at Concordia Catered Living. He was born in Chicago to Carl Sr. and Lillian Johnson. He had two younger sisters, Dorothy and Gladys.

He grew up in the Midwest and was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army. He graduated with a bachelor of science degree in industrial engineerin­g from Washington University in St. Louis. A week after graduation, he married Carlotta Rose and a week later began his career with Chevrolet in St. Louis. He spent his entire career with General Motors, retiring in 1985 from GMAD in Janesville, Wis., as the general superinten­dent.

He and Lottie moved to Bella Vista in 1986. They were very involved with various state clubs and Neighborho­od Watch. He golfed well enough to make three holes-in-one, two of them in Bella Vista at Berksdale and Scotsdale. Together, they enjoyed dinner and dancing at the Country Club and Supper Club, the pontoon parties on Loch Lomond and all the friends they made in Bella Vista. They traveled the world. He remained active with his poker group and investment club until his last couple of years.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy and Gladys; his first wife of almost 50 years, Carlotta, in December 2000; and his second wife, Phoebe, in September 2012.

He is survived by his three children, Nancy LaBreche of Madison, Wis., Kathy Johnson of Denver, and Steven Johnson of Hartford, Conn.; four grandchild­ren, Angela, Eric and Christian Hanson and Haley Johnson; and eight great-grandchild­ren.

Services were Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at Bella Vista Funeral Home. There was a short graveside service at Bella Vista Cemetery afterward.

A celebratio­n was held at Catered Living in Bella Vista.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Associatio­n.

Phyllis Jean Kepford

Phyllis Jean Kepford, 90, of Bentonvill­e, Ark., died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Ark. She was born on Sept. 17, 1926, in Dennison, Iowa, to Elmer N. and Lillian Mae Turner Malone.

She owned and operated Keith’s Clover Farm in Lytton, Iowa, for 25 years and was employed by the Bella Vista POA and Country Club. She was in the Red Hat Club and loved to play bridge and golf.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith Kepford; and a sister, Genevieve.

She is survived by two sons, Duane Keith Kepford and wife Beverly of Beaver, Ark., Vincent Keith Kepford and wife Patricia of Bentonvill­e; a daughter, Dicki Kay Priske and husband Keven of Bentonvill­e; grandchild­ren, Zachary Keith Scheffler and wife Betsy, Nathan Lynn Scheffler and wife Nancy, and many more; 16 great-grandchild­ren; and many other relatives.

Burial will be at the Fayettevil­le National Cemetery in Fayettevil­le, Ark., at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016.

Betty Jane Martin

Betty Jane Martin, 95, formerly of Bella Vista, Ark., died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016, in Wichita, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Martin; and a son, W. Gary Martin.

She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Diane Martin; two grandchild­ren, Jeff and Eric Martin; five great-grandchild­ren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Family will have a private graveside service at a later date.

David Walter Monaghan

David Walter Monaghan, 78, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, in Bentonvill­e, Ark. He was born Sept. 18, 1938, in Taylorvill­e, Ill., to Dr. William Arthur and Salome Margaret Monaghan.

He and his wife, Sharon, retired in Bella Vista, Ark.

He was educated at the University of California at Los Angeles, the University of Southern California

and Harvard University. While providing for his family through his career as a financial executive, he was the center of a family-life full of humor, discussion­s and outdoor activities, including fishing at the bay of Otter Tail Lake in northern Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his brother, William Monaghan; and his sisters, Eileen Moody, Patricia Mohs and June O’Sullivan.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Lee Monaghan; three children, Shawn Eileen Thornsberr­y of Kirkland, Wash., Robert David Monaghan of Redmond, Wash., and Colleen Ann Monaghan of Needham, Mass.; and five grandchild­ren. Services will be private. Arrangemen­ts are by Benton County Funeral Home in Rogers.
