Highlands Church

The JAM Adult Sunday School Class meets from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. every Sunday. Everyone is welcome to attend.

The 28th annual Cookie Walk is Saturday, Dec. 3. Doors open at 8 a.m. The “walk” begins at 8:30 and lasts until 11, or until all the cookies are gone. Price for each decorated can is $12 (limit eight cans per customer). Also visit the Sweet Shoppe to buy other tasty items, the Coffee Shoppe for a sweet roll and coffee, or the Craft Shoppe to purchase holiday gifts. Members of the choir will sing Christmas music. The money raised goes to local and regional charities.

Planning Ahead Series presents “Preparing Quick, Tasty, Healthy Food.” Come sample and learn. The program will be presented by Chef Kathy Dederich from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 6. Call the church office for more informatio­n. Admission is one nonperisha­ble food item.

Presbyteri­an Church

The community is invited to a traditiona­l worship service at 10 a.m. for the second Sunday in Advent. Christian Ed classes meet at 8:30 a.m. A nursery attendant is available. New friends are always welcome.

The Martha Garvin Circle of Presbyteri­an Women packaged 212 gently used sweaters for the Salvation Army to give out this Christmas season. Sweaters were donated by church members.

All Presbyteri­an Women are invited to a Christmas Tea to be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, in Fellowship Hall. Each lady is asked to bring one dozen cookies to share, and extras will be delivered to shut-ins. Sign up at the Informatio­n Center if you can attend.

Bella Vista Lutheran Church

Advent services start at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, and will continue on Wednesdays until Christmas.

The Celebratio­n Choir and Orchestra will present the Christmas concert, “Joy, Joy, Joy,” at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 11. This is a free concert, but there will be a donation collected to help

with the purchase of items for the Shepherd’s Food Pantry.

The Men’s Bible class meets every Monday at 1 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. Please park in the back parking lot and enter the lower level.

Caps and mittens are again being collected for the Gravette school children. The collection box will be in the church narthex through Dec. 11. Purchased items are always welcome.

The Lutheran Hour is broadcast at 12:30 p.m. every Sunday over radio station KURM-FM (100.3).

Unitarian Universali­sts

The Unitarian Universali­sts of Benton County meet at 1110 S.E. Evergreen St. (Little Einstein Montessori School) in Bentonvill­e, near the southeast corner of 14th and J streets. The Sunday service, which begins at 11 a.m., is preceded by coffee and social time beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Sunday, Dec. 4, is the Festival of the Greens. Congregant­s will learn why we associate evergreens with Christmas and leave with a crafted live holiday decoration.

Sunday School is available for children through age 15. A Unitarian Universali­st adaptation of Jerome Berryman’s book “Spirit Play” is the primary resource. The morning is structured based on the Montessori approach. As in Montessori, the key elements are the classroom environmen­t and the teachers. These elements free the children to work

at their own pace on their own activities after an initial lesson.

St. Bernard Church

Wednesday at 9 a.m., the Rosary Makers will meet in room 203 in the parish hall. RCIA classes (adult education) are held every at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays in the parish hall. Come and learn more about the Catholic faith.

Shoebox Ministry has scheduled its annual Christmas shoebox assembly day 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1. The goal is to fill 100 men’s and 100 women’s boxes with the necessary items plus a gift item, because it is Christmas. The box will be gift wrapped and delivered to the Methodist Church by Monday, Dec. 5. The boxes will then be distribute­d to 13 different shelters between here and Fayettevil­le.

The Women’s Club will hold a board meeting at 9 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, in the library.

Saturday, Dec. 3, the Knights of Columbus will host a Parish Christmas Dinner in the Parish Hall at 6 p.m. Come for a delicious meal, caroling and fun.

Caring Friends will meet at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, in room 205.

Tuesday, Dec. 6, there will be a Day of Recollecti­on presented by Deacon Al Genna. Mass will be from 8:30 to 9 a.m. and the presentati­on will follow Mass at 9:30 a.m. Reconcilia­tion will be held at 1 p.m. in the church. There will also a scripture study on the Infancy Narrative at 7 p.m. in Classroom 203.

Beautiful, religious Christmas cards will be on sale after Saturday and Sunday Masses.

The purpose of Christmas is to remember and celebrate the birth of Christ by keeping Christ in Christmas. When purchasing Christmas cards, keep in mind the reason for the season — the birth of Christ. This event is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus.

Mass is 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday. Daily Mass is 8:30 a.m on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Wednesday Mass is at 5 p.m. All are welcome to celebrate the liturgy of the Holy Eucharist with them.

Village Bible Church

Wednesday, the Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. This ministry is available to anyone in the area who needs help with groceries and would appreciate the compassion and encouragem­ent of friendly volunteers. There will not be a potluck fellowship dinner tonight. At 6:20, there will be singing, devotions and prayer for adults. Activities will also be held for children. Nursery for infants and toddlers is available, and the community is invited.

Sunday, Growth Group classes are offered for all ages at 9 a.m. followed by the 10:15 a.m. worship service. Pastor Mark Voll’s sermon title is “The Prophecy of The King” with a text of Isaiah 9:1-9. Infant and toddler nursery and Children’s Church for kids are offered as well.

The church’s annual Christmas program, at 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 11, will feature the Christmas cantata “A Noel Celebratio­n,” followed by a pie dessert fellowship. The community is invited to attend.

The church is hosting “Surviving the Holidays” Griefshare at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4. This is a twohour class on how to handle the holidays after the loss of a loved one.
