Now through Dec. 10

The annual Friends of the Library Christmas Basket Silent Auction, an annual library fundraiser, begins. The baskets will be up through Dec. 10, and people will be able to bid during library hours. There will be several baskets and a few standalone items up for bid. The Bella Vista Public Library is located just east of Town Center, off Lancashire Boulevard (Arkansas Highway 340 East, turn at the Bella Vista Baptist Church) at 11 Dickens Place. Friday, Dec. 2

The Greater Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce Parade of Lights, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., is one of the most anticipate­d holiday parades in Eureka Springs. This year, this unique and beautiful parade’s theme is Toyland.

Saturday, Dec. 3

The Tellers of Tales gather from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Shiloh Museum’s General Store building on the museum grounds. This is a meeting for storytelle­rs and listeners. The Shiloh Museum of Ozark History is located at 118 W. Johnson Ave. in Springdale.

The Ozark Pastel Society will host a pastel demo by pastel artist and teacher Michele Wells beginning at 9:45 a.m. at Rogers Public Library. Wells, from St. Louis, Mo., is also the winner of the 2015 Best of Show in the Illinois River Salon Show. Members and anyone interested in the art of pastels are invited, and light refreshmen­ts will be served.

Sunday, Dec. 4

The Bella Vista Historical Museum will be hosting a program at 2 p.m. at the museum by Pat and Mark Kirby about their nativity scenes collection, which will be a special exhibit in December. The museum is located at the corner of U.S. Highway 71 and Kingsland, next door to the American Legion.

Christian Country artist Justin Todd Herod will appear in concert at First Baptist Church in Hiwasse at 6 p.m. He has appeared on TBN and GMC TV, sharing the stage with such artists as The Oak Ridge Boys, Guy Penrod, Marty Rabon and Ken Holloway. The church is located at 13512 W. Arkansas Highway 72 in Hiwasse. This event is free to the public, and all are invited. For more informatio­n, contact Cliff Shelder at 479-553-7767.

The Bella Vista Men’s Chorus will present a free concert, “Holiday Cheer,” at 3 p.m. at the Bella Vista Community Church.Their final concert of the year will feature classical, contempora­ry and gospel Christmas music under the direction of John Matthews and accompanie­d by Marilyn Lee on the piano. Also featured will be the Melody Lane Barbershop Quartet and the Bella Vista Community Church Bell Choir under the direction of Mike Walkup. No tickets are required for this concert, and extra parking and shuttle buses will be available. There will be a free-will offering. Tuesday, Dec. 6

The Bella Vista Men’s Chorus will present a second performanc­e of their Christmas concert, “Holiday Cheer,” at 7 p.m. at the Bella Vista First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Dr. Enjoy the holiday music by the chorus and selections by the handbell choir of the First United Methodist Church.

Friday, Dec. 9

Art Garfunkle will perform at the Walton Art Center starting at 8 p.m. Although it has been over 40 years since “Bridge Over Troubled Water” was recorded, Garfunkel’s image and signature vocal remain among the most instantly recognizab­le in popular music. He has made an indelible mark on the music world as both a solo artist and as half of the unrivaled Simon & Garfunkel. After the best-selling duo parted ways in 1970, Garfunkel landed several major film roles, published a collection of poetry and began a trek across America on foot. But those experience­s couldn’t keep him away from his true love: singing live in front of an audience. Performing for the first time on the WAC stage, Garfunkel’s golden voice will send shivers down your spine.

Saturday, Dec. 10

At 3 p.m., Bella Vista Women’s Chorus and featured guests, the Perfect Harmony Women’s Barbershop Chorus, present “Holiday Sing,” a benefit for the Library expansion project, at First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Dr. A free-will offering will be taken.

The holiday concert, “Sounds of the Season,” will be presented by students from the Will Bush Violin Studio from 2 to 3:30 p.m. The Shiloh Museum of Ozark History is located at 118 W. Johnson Ave. in Springdale.

Sunday, Dec. 11.

The Bella Vista Community Concert Band will play their first Christmas Concert at 3 p.m. at the Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E. Lancashire Blvd. in Bella Vista. They will be playing many pieces that will put the crowd in the Christmas spirit. Jessica Ferguson, a trombone player in the band, will also be a featured soloist in the program.
