Eagle watching
Monte Harris of Bentonville with her friends Dustie Meads and Xyta Lucas of Bella Vista headed out with their cameras and binoculars on Feb. 10 to look for bald eagles. Harris, who is a fifth generation Bentonville native, has long known the best spots to find the eagles. The three were treated to the sight of several eagles perched in trees along Spavinaw Creek southwest of Gravette. The day came to a close with a beautiful sunset along Fruitwood Road southeast of Gravette, a favorite spot of many eagles that could be easily heard calling to each other. The sunset was immediately followed on the opposite side of the road by the spectacular sight of the rise of the full moon.
