s Bella Vista Historical Museum will be open from 1 to 5 p.m. instead of the current schedule of noon to 4 p.m. This will free up docents to have lunch before they come to the museum, plus it lets us accommodate those visitors who wish to visit the museum in the late afternoon.

s nature and wildlife photographer, and a native Arkansan, will present a free program on Beautiful Birds of Arkansas at the Hobbs State Park visitor center at 2 p.m. Mike travels the state photographing birds of every kind. His patience and keen eye have produced some of the most breathtaking images imaginable of the beautiful birds of Arkansas. Bring a friend, enjoy a remarkable program and visit personally with Mike Martin at Hobbs State Park. Mike will present at Hobbs State Park visitor center located on Arkansas Highway 12 just east of the War Eagle Road intersection. The event is free to the public. s There will be a special Guest House Concert at The Artist Retreat Center at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18. Country singer/songwriter Bob Livingston will be performing. Tickets are $15 and available at www. artistretreatcenter.com under the Event tab or cash at the door. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
s Spend an evening on Beaver Lake while paddling a kayak guided by a park interpreter. Learn the basics of paddling while exploring a calm area of Beaver Lake. The finale will be gazing west into the sunset. Recreational kayaks, paddles and life jackets will be provided. Bring a bottle of water, bug spray, flashlight, and dress for the weather. The event begins at Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area Visitor Center on Arkansas Highway 12 just east of the War Eagle Road intersection. Dates and times are July 28 at 8 p.m.; Aug. 11, 25, 28 at 7:30 p.m.; Sept. 8, 15, 18 at 7 p.m.; Sept. 25, 29 at 6:30 p.m. The cost is $12 for adults and $6 for children (6-12).
