Bon­nie “Colleen” Carter, 86, long-time Bella Vista, Ark., res­i­dent, died Nov. 29, 2017. She was born Nov. 19, 1931, to Sid­ney and Mary Lida of Mis­sion, Kan. She grad­u­ated from Shawnee Mis­sion North High School and Kansas City Busi­ness School and was a man­ager at Con­ti­nen­tal Grain Co. for 25 years be­fore re­tir­ing to Bella Vista in 1991.

She was an elite bowler, avid golfer and a skilled craftswoman in stained glass, wood­carv­ing and flower ar­rang­ing.

Her re­tire­ment to Bella Vista brought an ac­tive com­mu­nity life where she be­longed to the Met­field Mom­mies and Ladies Nine Hole golf groups and served as president of the Women’s 9-Hole Golf As­so­ci­a­tion. She was the chair­per­son of the Bella Vista Pride Com­mit­tee for three years and a founder of the Bella Vista Golf Re­mem­brance Pro­gram. She was also ac­tive in Bella Vista Com­mu­nity Church. She en­joyed bridge and canasta groups, as well as mah-jongg. She was known as the “Mayor of Brit­tany Courts” for 15 years be­cause she or­ga­nized block par­ties and lawn and beau­ti­fi­ca­tion projects for the area. Her dogs were her con­stant com­pan­ions.

She was pre­ceded in death by her son, Terry Carter.

Sur­vivors in­clude her son, Chris Carter and wife of Auburn, Penn.; one daugh­ter, Cay Miller (Mark) of Hasty, Ark.; three grand­chil­dren, Maria Carter, An­nie Carter and Ray­mond Carter; two great-grand­daugh­ters, Akita Carter and Ad­die Zoell­ner; and two brothers, Sid­ney Lida (Fran) of Lake­land, Fla., and Robert Lida of Wi­chita, Kan.

Ser­vices will be held 10 a.m. Dec. 16, 2017, at Bella Vista Com­mu­nity Church. A re­cep­tion will fol­low.

In­ter­ment of her ashes will be a pri­vate fam­ily cer­e­mony at the Bella Vista Colum­bar­ium.

In lieu of flow­ers, memo­ri­als may be made to the Bella Vista An­i­mal Shel­ter, 32 Bella Vista Way, Bella Vista.
