Christmas at Dickens Place a premier event
Can you believe it is already Christmastime again? It seems as if we just celebrated Christmas 2016, doesn’t it?
I am very excited to tell you about a new Christmas event taking place at the library this year. The event is called, “Christmas at Dickens Place,” because, well, it’s Christmas and our library is located on Dickens Place. Coming up with a name for the event was the easiest part of the planning process.
My staff and I have been planning this first annual event all year and we believe it will be the premier Christmas event in Bella Vista for years to come. Sit back and enjoy a cup of coffee while I tell you a little about it and, hopefully, entice you to come.
For “Christmas at Dickens Place,” the library will be decked out in all its Christmas finery, complete with lots of lights and Christmas trees. There will be a marketplace consisting of 25 artisans in Northwest Arkansas, so it will be a great time to do a little Christmas shopping. We will also have several food vendors, so please plan to have your dinner with us. Musical groups will be performing wonderful Christmas carols to entertain you while you shop and dine.
What we have always predicted is finally coming true. We will actually be hanging things from the ceiling at the library. A very special part of the event will be the display of beautiful Christmas villages, which will be hanging from the ceiling as you walk into the library. You will just have to see it to believe how beautiful they are. We are sincerely grateful to all our wonderful patrons and friends who have donated their collections for our display. I truly believe it will be breathtaking.
And, before I forget to mention it, Santa Claus will be here to visit with all the little ones. He will have plenty of time to hear exactly what they want for Christmas and perhaps pose for a picture with them. It is going to be the perfect photo opportunity, so be sure to dress your little ones in their Christmas best.
In case you are concerned about the logistics of the event, Bella Vista Baptist Church has graciously agreed to let us use their parking lot. You can either walk down Dickens Place, or we will be providing transportation to the library. We will have heaters just in case you need to warm up a bit while you are enjoying the festivities that are outside.
“Christmas at Dickens Place” will take place Friday, Dec. 8, from 4 to 8 p.m. The library will be closed that day to get ready for the event. We hope you will join us in kicking off the Christmas season in this fun, festive way. We are looking forward to seeing you at the library!
