Harold Russell
Harold “Leon” Russell, 65, of Joplin, Mo. died Friday, March 9, 2018.
He was born Aug. 12, 1952, in Joplin to the late Harold Leon Russell and Beatrice Normadine Beckwith
Scott. He graduated from Johnson High School in Johnson, Kan. He served in the U.S. Navy and later worked for the Veterans Affairs Administration in California.
He was preceded in death by his father Harold Leon Russell; two brothers, James Kent Russell and Richard Scott; and step-father, Buford Scott.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Turner; one son, Brian James Russell (Theresa); two daughters, Lindsey Beth Hinojosa and Macey Lauren Willis, both of Long Beach, Calif.; three grandsons; mother, Norma Scott of Joplin; two brothers, Glenn Russell of Joplin and Buford Scott of Topeka, Kan.; two sisters, Cynthia Wilken (Ron) of Fort Worth, Texas and Rebecca Scott of Joplin.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Christ Community United Methodist Church in Joplin with Pastor Chris Sloan officiating. A Hawaiian Luau celebrating his life will follow at Big R’s Bar-B-Q. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Christ Community Children’s Camp Fund: 417-7818701; www.ccumc-joplin. org.
