Questers Donation
The Butterfield Trails chapter of Questers International recently gave a grant to the museum for the purchase of a new large size color printer/ scanner, for which we are very grateful. Questers is an organization for those interested in antiques and the preservation and restoration of historic buildings and has three chapters in Bella Vista. Barbershop Harmony Program April 8
80 years of song … the Greater Ozark Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, established 22 years ago, is celebrating the 80th anniversary for the Society for Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Singing in America, which was founded in 1938. The theme and goal of the Society is to “Keep the World Singing.” The local chapter is inviting the community to celebrate with it at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 8, when members will talk about barbershop singing, do some singing, and invite the audience to participate in some singalongs. A display is on exhibit through late April which includes information about the Youth in Harmony Project coordinated with local schools. That project provides barbershop singing training to students and culminates in a show where the students participate.
Village on the Lakes Writers April 15
In honor of April being National Poetry Month, the Village on the Lakes Writers and Poets Society will meet at the museum at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 15. The public is invited to hear a talk on the Poet Laureate of Bella Vista, “Uncle Henry”… Henry Coffin Fellow of Wichita, Kansas, who lived here in the 1920s, and published several volumes of poetry, a few of which will be for sale following the talk. National Poetry Month is a celebration, introduced in 1996, of poetry organized by the Academy of American Poets as a way to increase awareness and appreciation of poetry in the U.S.
POA Spring Bazaar April 21
The museum will be participating in the POA Spring Bazaar at Riordan Hall from 9 a.m to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 21. Stop by the museum’s table and see the latest items found in the gift shop. The museum has no paid staff, so all revenue from these sales goes toward operating expenses at the museum. There are jigsaw puzzles that feature Bella Vista area photos as well as magnets, mugs, T-shirts, postcards, books and more. Check us out for birthday presents, anniversaries, or other gift-giving occasions.
