Viola Emma Wagner Winchell Aandahl

Viola Emma Wagner Winchell Aandahl, 100, of Bella Vista, Ark., died March 25, 2018.

She was born in Ingalls, Okla., to Walter B. and Myrtle M. Wagner. She graduated from Oklahoma A&M in 1940 with a Bachelors’ degree in Home Economics and English. She worked in photograph­y for NACA during World War II and worked for Oklahoma State University until her retirement and moved to Bella Vista. She was active in Garden Club, bridge and travel. In 1998, she met and married her second husband, Andrew (Andy) Aandahl.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, Robert M. Winchell and Andrew R. Aandahl; and siblings, Fulton Wagner, Dorothy Jackson and Peggy Dilbeck.

Survivors include a sister, Louella McAnelly (99), of Lake Kiowa, Texas; her daughter, Fay Winchell of Bella Vista; son, Byron Winchell of Frankfort, Ohio; and two grandchild­ren, Amanda and Adam. Roger L. Hinshaw

Roger L Hinshaw, 66, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at his home after a battle with cancer.

He was born Nov. 19, 1951, in Hutchinson, Kan., to Arthur E. and Mamie (Cornett) Hinshaw. He graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1969. On Aug. 8, 1970, he married Peggy Peak in Newton, Kan. After retirement from General Services Administra­tion at the U.S. Courthouse in Wichita, Kan., they moved to Bella Vista. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle through the hills and forests of northwest Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Carl Hinshaw and Richard J. Hinshaw.

Survivors include a daughter, Crystal D. Hinshaw of West Fork, Ark.; and a brother, Rex Hinshaw (Paula) of Jefferson City, Mo.

Cremation has taken place. Burial will be at Highland Sacred Gardens, 3600 E. 28th St., Sedalia, Mo., at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at the First United Methodist Church, Fellowship Hall, 801 N. Main St., Newton, Kan.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762.

Rena Dee Stephenson

Rena Dee Stephenson, 86, died March 29, 2018, in Bella Vista, Ark.

She and identical twin sister, Demo Lee, were born in Leslie, Ark., on May 22, 1931, to Hobah and Ora Stephenson. She attended Leslie Public Schools and Arkansas State Teachers College. Graduating with a degree in Home Economics, she taught school in Chidester, Ark., and East St. Louis, Ill. She was a talented cook, wise Sunday School teacher and she served on the local School Board before being appointed to the Missouri State School Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Fowler Stephenson.

Survivors include her children, Thomas Arthur Morrison (Rhonda) of Aurora, Mo., Stephen Kem Morrison (Debbie) of Bentonvill­e Ark., Vivian Lee Norman (David) of Little Rock, Ark., and Fowler Thaddeus Morrison (Elizabeth) of Van Buren, Ark.; three sisters, Dorothy Chadwick, Mae McDaniel and Wordna Freeman of Leslie, and her twin, Demo Lee Hampton of Benton, Ark.; and nine grandchild­ren.

There will be no public service.

Donald Anthony Swift

Donald Anthony Swift, 85, of Bella Vista, Ark., died March 28, 2018.

He was born Sept. 7, 1932. He proudly served in the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years; son, David (Arvetta) of Bella Vista; daughter, Debra Dhaenens (Bob) of Omaha, Neb.; brother, Pat (Sandy) of Omaha; and five grandchild­ren.

Memorial Services will be held at Bella Vista Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 7, 2018. Inurnment will be in Omaha at a later date.

Mary Etta Thornton

Mary Etta Thornton, 91, of Bella Vista, Ark., died March 28, 2018.

She was born June 11, 1926, to Carl and Hallie Pryor in Vernon County, Rich Hill, Mo. She was married to Richard M. Thornton for 70 years. They moved to Bella Vista from Sunrise Beach, Mo., 25 years ago. She enjoyed golf, square dancing and playing bridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; son, Roger; and daughter, Janelle Gay.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 6, at Highlands Church.

Robert John Towner

Robert John Towner, 67, of Bella Vista, Ark., died March 24, 2018, at home.

He was born June 26, 1950, in Vermillion, S.D., to William Towner and Irene (Johnson) Towner. He was a police officer with the Rogers Police Department for 30 years. He was a member of the Bella Vista Bass Club, Bella Vista Fly Tyers and the Fraternal Order of Police.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Charles Towner.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Towner of the home; son, Robert Towner of Bentonvill­e, Ark.; brother, Jim (Sue) Towner of Minnesota; sister, Patty Bice of Akron, Iowa; and grandson, Elliot Towner.

Memorial services were held Monday, April 2, 2018, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd. Bella Vista, AR.
