Bella Vista Traveling Sams

Thirty-three members and guests of the Bella Vista Traveling Sams held their monthly May camp out at Roaring River State Park in Missouri from May 9 to 12. Don and Joann Cowell were the Wagon Masters for this campout. The group welcomed first-time visitor Gloria Taylor and second-time visitors Mike and Janie Robinson. The chapter welcomed new members Dennis and Dianne Fritz, Rex and Judy Lathen, Daniel and Linda Moran, Tom and Shari Ogburn, John and Yolie Parsons, Tom and Sandy Pearcy, and Bob and Rosalee Rainbolt.

Activities included potluck dinners, breakfasts served by Bob and Anne Mathis and Gary and Virginia Reynolds, biking, fishing, hiking, campfires and a tour of the fish hatchery. A corn hole contest was held, and Rex and Judy Lathen were the winners.

The next few outings for the Bella Vista Traveling Sams are June 1417, Withrow Springs State Park; July 18-21, Natural Falls State Park; August, ice cream social; Sept. 2023, Area 1 Friendship in Grove; and Oct. 28-31, Devil's Den State Park. Andante Music Club

The Andante Music Club invites the public to a free presentati­on of “A Taste of the Opera” at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at the Highland Christian Church, 1500 Forest Hills Blvd in Bella Vista. Cast members of “Opera in the Ozarks” will present arias introducin­g their 2018 season. Music selections will include songs from “Die Fledermaus,” “The Barber of Seville” and “The Ballad of Baby Doe.” Opera In the Ozarks season begins June 22. BV Homesteade­rs

Bella Vista Garden Club

The Bella Vista Garden Club will host its 2018 Garden Party from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Simple Pleasures, 13718 Rothbury Drive in Bella Vista. This event is held in cooperatio­n with the city of Bella Vista and the Bella Vista POA, and will feature local artists, music, delicious appetizers, wine, raffles, a silent auction and much more. Retired Nurses of NWA

The Retired Nurses of NWA will meet at noon Tuesday, May 29, at Northwest Medical Center of Bentonvill­e, located at 3000 Medical Center Parkway, in Classroom A in Bentonvill­e. There will be a guest speaker, and optional lunch or beverages will be available in the Allspice Café from 11:15 a.m. and brought across the hall to Classroom A. New members and guests are welcome. Kingsdale Squares

NW Arkansas Civil War Roundtable

The Northwest Arkansas Civil War Roundtable will hold its May meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 24. The meeting will be held at the Old Store annex of the Shiloh Museum, located at 118 W. Johnson Ave. in Springdale. The program will be a concert of Civil War military band music presented by the Heritage Brass Band. Fly Tyers Club

The Fly Tyers Club meets at 9 a.m. every Thursday at Riordan Hall for a social hour, followed by meeting from 10 to 11 a.m. The club is a fishing, conservati­on and service organizati­on with approximat­ely 150 members. This group of men and women share a common interest in fishing for both warmand cold-water species found in the local streams and lakes of Bella Vista. The club also promotes lake conservati­on, recreation­al activities and conducts service projects throughout Northwest Arkansas.

The Bella Vista Sunrise Rotary Club has a breakfast meeting at 7 a.m. every Wednesday in the Concordia Main Building, 1 Concordia Drive, Bella Vista. Guests are welcome. For more informatio­n, call Sean at 417-455-6654.

Kiwanis Club

The Kiwanis Club holds weekly meetings at 7 a.m. every Thursday at Concordia Retirement Center. Breakfast is available. Visitors, Kiwanis members and former Kiwanis members are all invited to attend.

Bella Vista Amateur Radio Club

The Bella Vista Amateur Radio Club holds its monthly meetings at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of each month at Highland Christian Church in Bella Vista. The program focuses on competitiv­e radio operating and its benefits for public service and emergency communicat­ions. For anyone interested in acquiring an amateur radio license, the club also administer­s FCC exams at 2 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month. All meetings and exams are held at Highland Christian Church, located at 1500 Forest Hills Blvd. (Ark. 279) in Bella Vista. Woodcarver­s Club

The Bella Vista Woodcarver­s Club invites new members. Member carvers hold varying levels of carving skills, from beginner to master-skilled, and are willing to teach at no cost. The club also offers classes from time to time. There are several women members who work with pyrography (wood burning) as well as carving, and one member works with chain-saw carving. The Woodcarver­s Club teaches soap carving classes to young children in the area. The club meets at Riordan Hall in Bella Vista from 1 to 3 p.m. every Thursday. Bella Vista Strings

Bella Vista Strings is a casual acoustic jam group that meets at 1 p.m. every Friday at the Artist Retreat Center. Those who enjoy playing different styles of music are invited to visit and consider joining the BV Strings. The group plays rock, folk, bluegrass and country. The music is submitted by members. Village Writers and Poets Club

The Village Lake Writers and Poets, a local writers group, meets from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the second Wednesday of every month at the Artist Retreat Center, located at 13467 Lookout Drive in Old Bella Vista. American Legion Riders

Motorcycle­s, patriotic veteran fellowship and the thrill of a ride are what keep the American Legion Riders riding. The American Legion Riders are associated with Bella Vista Post 341 and have monthly meetings on the third Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Bella Vista American Legion facility. If the weather allows, a ride follows and ends at a restaurant for a meal.

BV Decorative Artists Chapter

The Bella Vista Decorative Artists Chapter meets a 9 a.m. on the second Saturday of each month for a business meeting and painting session at Wishing Spring Studio (8862 W. McNelly Road — next to Walgreens). The purpose of the chapter is to stimulate interest and appreciati­on for the art of painting. BVDA does a variety of service projects. This year's projects include working with the Village House in Bella Vista and Memory Boxes for local hospitals. Each month BVDA has a chapter member or a visiting national artist teach an art project in acrylics, oils, watercolor or mixed mediums. Painters of all skill levels make up the BVDA Chapter. Perfect Harmony

Perfect Harmony Women's Barbershop Chorus meets from 4 to 5:30 p.m. every Monday in the choir room of the United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista. Pride of the Ozarks Barbershop Chorus

Pride of the Ozarks Barbershop Chorus meets at 7 p.m. every Thursday at Bella Vista Church of Christ, 989 McNelly Road, Bentonvill­e (across from Lowe's). Singing in harmony, a cappella, is this group's enjoyment and is open to all men who like to sing. Vocal music experience is helpful. Women’s Chorus

The Women's Chorus invites singers from the tri-county area to join the chorus. All are welcome, with no tryouts or experience needed. The chorus performs classical, pop, folk and show tunes for local clubs and events. Rehearsals are Mondays at 12:45 p.m. in the music room of the Bella Vista First United Methodist Church.
