Candidate forum
Mayoral and City Council candidates will meet at the Bella Vista Public Library for an election forum on Monday, Oct. 29. Candidates will introduce themselves and answer questions provided by the moderator. Two sessions are available to meet the schedules of the community, the first at 4:30 p.m. and the second at 6:30 p.m.
Hocus Pocus Movie Party
We’re brewing up a delightfully good time with a Hocus Pocus Movie Party for our last Elementary Storytime of the month. Join us at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, for a witching time watching the classic Halloween film, “Hocus Pocus.”
Hear Me Out! Audiobook Club
The first meeting of the Hear Me Out! Audiobook Club will be BYOB (bring your own book). Join us at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, to talk about an audiobook you liked (or didn’t like) as well as what you thought about the narrator. We will also choose the books for the next few months.
Family Game Night
Due to the wild success of Family Game Night this summer, we’re making it a monthly event. On the third Thursday of every month, bring the whole family to the library at 5:30 p.m. to enjoy fun games together.
Encore books
The Friends of the Library’s usedbook store is open six days a week during regular library hours, with everyday low pricing on hardbacks, DVDs, puzzles, children’s books, paperbacks, biographies, health and wellness topics and much more. All proceeds of this ongoing fundraiser support the library.
Rocket Languages
Rocket Languages is offered through the library website. This language learning service offers online courses for 15 different languages. All you need is a library card to access it.
Kindle checkout
Kindle Paperwhites and Kindle Fires are available for checkout to patrons in good standing. Each device is loaded with several books and may be checked out for three weeks. New books are added to each device every month. See library staff for the checkout agreement and procedure.
Freegal Music
The library has Freegal Music which allows patrons to listen
to and download music for free through the library website. All you need is a library card. Patrons can download and keep up to three songs a week.
Exhibits
October’s displays are provided by a photographer of the Bella Vista Photography Club, Shirley Sheets, also a patron of the Library.
Floral arrangement
October’s floral arrangement was designed and provided by Elaine Rooney of the Bella Vista Garden Club. Each month, a member of the Bella Vista Garden Club creates an original floral design to be displayed for patron enjoyment.
