Arkansas Ur­ban Forestry Coun­cil sets work­shop

The Arkansas Ur­ban Forestry Coun­cil is spon­sor­ing a work­shop to ben­e­fit ar­borists, com­mu­nity plan­ners, and land­scape de­sign pro­fes­sion­als, as well as in­ter­ested cit­i­zens and home­own­ers. The work­shop will be from 8:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1021 W. Sy­camore St. in Fayet­teville. At­ten­dees will learn about start­ing a com­mu­nity or­chard and its ben­e­fits. In­for­ma­tion on ap­pro­pri­ate site se­lec­tion, va­ri­ety se­lec­tion, es­tab­lish­ment. and con­trol­ling pests and dis­eases will be pro­vided.

In­cluded in the work­shop ex­pe­ri­ence are a tour of Tri Cy­cle Farms and a fruit tree prun­ing demon­stra­tion.

Cost of the work­shop is $30 for AUFC mem­bers and $55 for non­mem­bers. Reg­is­tra­tion dead­line is Nov. 9. Lunch will be pro­vided.
