Hear Me Out! Au­dio­book Club

The first meeting of the Hear Me Out! Au­dio­book Club will be BYOB (bring your own book). Join us at 6 p.m. Thurs­day, Nov. 1, to talk about an au­dio­book you liked (or didn’t like) as well as what you thought about the nar­ra­tor. We will also choose the books for the next few months.

Cal­lig­ra­phy Class

In­struc­tor Julie Rae will teach a two-hour cal­lig­ra­phy class at the li­brary at 2 p.m. Wed­nes­day, Nov. 7. Please sign up at the front desk to re­serve a spot in the class. There is a $25 sup­ply fee for the class, payable at the event, which in­cludes a cal­lig­ra­phy pen and pa­per.

Wel­come Re­cep­tion

The Li­brary Ad­vi­sory Board and the Bella Vista Pub­lic Li­brary Foun­da­tion are co-host­ing a Wel­come Re­cep­tion for new the li­brary direc­tor Suzanne Adams at 2 p.m. Sun­day, Nov. 11. Vol­un­teers and li­brary pa­trons of all ages are in­vited to stop by to meet her and wel­come her to Bella Vista and our li­brary.

Li­brary closed

The li­brary will be closed on Mon­day, Nov. 12, in ob­ser­vance of Vet­er­ans Day.

Tech Time

Join Adult Ser­vices li­brar­ian Amanda Gib­son at our Novem­ber Tech Time at noon Wed­nes­day, Nov. 14, to dis­cover all about us­ing tablets to down­load e-books. Bring your tablet to fol­low along and pick up help­ful guides for mak­ing the most of your de­vice.

En­core books

The Friends of the Li­brary’s used-book store is open six days a week dur­ing reg­u­lar li­brary hours, with ev­ery­day low pric­ing on hard­backs, DVDs, puz­zles, chil­dren’s books, pa­per­backs, bi­ogra­phies, health and well­ness top­ics and much more. All pro­ceeds of this on­go­ing fundraiser sup­port the li­brary.

Rocket Lan­guages

Rocket Lan­guages is of­fered through the li­brary web­site. This

language learn­ing ser­vice of­fers on­line cour­ses for 15 dif­fer­ent lan­guages. All you need is a li­brary card to ac­cess it.

Kin­dle check­out

Kin­dle Paper­whites and Kin­dle Fires are avail­able for check­out to

pa­trons in good stand­ing. Each de­vice is loaded with sev­eral books and may be checked out for three weeks. New books are added to each de­vice ev­ery month. See li­brary staff for the check­out agree­ment and pro­ce­dure.

Free­gal Mu­sic

The li­brary has Free­gal Mu­sic, which al­lows pa­trons to lis­ten to and down­load mu­sic for free through the li­brary web­site. All you need is a li­brary card. Pa­trons can down­load and keep up to three

songs a week.

Ex­hibits

Oc­to­ber’s dis­plays are pro­vided by a pho­tog­ra­pher of the Bella Vista Pho­tog­ra­phy Club, Shirley Sheets, also a pa­tron of the Li­brary.

Flo­ral ar­range­ment

Oc­to­ber’s flo­ral ar­range­ment was de­signed and pro­vided by Elaine Rooney of the Bella Vista Gar­den Club. Each month a mem­ber of the

Bella Vista Gar­den Club cre­ates an orig­i­nal flo­ral de­sign to be dis­played for pa­tron en­joy­ment.

Hours and web­site

Reg­u­lar li­brary hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mon­day through Thurs­day, with week­end hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fri­day and Satur­day.
