Sunday, Jan. 20: Musician Charles Faulk will present “My Fair Lady: Anatomy of a Musical.” The last of seven Chalica candles representi­ng the Unitarian Universali­st seventh principle, Respect for The Independen­t Web of All Existence, of Which We Are A Part, will be lit. On Saturday, Jan. 19, at 9 a.m. in McKay Hall, Carie O'Banion speaks on her 400-mile walk across northern Spain known as “Camino de Santiago.” Her journey and presentati­on include many interestin­g photos. Light refreshmen­ts will be provided. The event is free and open to the community. Call the church office to sign up at 479-855-1126.

A new class begins Jan. 16 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. from Reading the Bible Again for the First Time by Marcus Borg, “Seeing the Bible Again” and will be followed with a 15 minute meditation.

New Chaplains will be installed during the 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, service, “Going to the Mountain Top.” And, from noon to 1 p.m., Chidam Narayan Iyer presents an insightful new poetry reading from his “Journeys to the Whispering Heart.”

Did you make a New Year's resolution to be more active in 2019? If so, PCBV's exercise class might be a perfect fit for you. This class meets in the fellowship hall at 8 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday for stretching and low-impact exercise, using a chair or a mat. Village Bible Church

Wednesday, Jan. 16, the Oasis Food Pantry will be open from 10 a.m. to noon. This ministry is available to anyone in the area who needs help with groceries and would appreciate the compassion and encouragem­ent of friendly volunteers.

Also on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., there will be special speakers, Steve and Jane Wheeler, missionari­es with Reach Global, in the Worship Center. The community is always welcome.

Sunday, Jan. 20, Pastor Mark Voll will continue the sermon series titled, “God's Mission and Jonah's Dilemma.” This Sunday's sermon is titled “A Study through the Book of Jonah.

Highlands Church (United Methodist)

The next 10-week session of Flex ‘N Stretch has started at Highlands Church. Classes meet at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the Peter Classroom. The mission is to challenge, encourage and promote better health through physical exercise. You can attend one lesson, all 30 lessons, or somewhere in between — whatever works for you! Flex ‘N Stretch is a wellness program of activities which provides a higher quality of life through responsibl­e movement that is pain-free and possible for all participan­ts. This well-organized exercise program teaches all participan­ts, including seniors, how to do the exercises easily and safely. Benefits of the program include increased range of motion, coordinati­on, strength, balance and agility, all of which improve the quality of life and lead to longer independen­t living. First United Methodist Church

The Prayer Shawl Ministry meets from 10 to 11 a.m. every Friday in Room 6 for an hour of visiting and stitching. All are welcome to this meeting, especially those who would like to learn how to knit. The shawls are given to shut-ins, those who are grieving and to others in special circumstan­ces. Each shawl is prayed over and blessed as it is being made.

Two weekly meetings of AA are hosted at the church on Mondays and Saturdays. Please call or stop by the church for more informatio­n.

The chancel choir and chancel handbell choir would like to have more folks join. The Chancel Bells meets in the Music Room at 3:15 p.m. every Wednesday, and the Chancel Choir meets at 4:45 p.m. every Wednesday in the Sanctuary.
