Answers to statements by ACC’s Vernetti

- Jim Parsons Bella Vista

The purpose of this writing is to expose statements made by ACC Director Buddy Vernetti during his interview with Managing Editor Bennett Horne and printed in the Feb. 22, 2022 edition of The Weekly Vista.

STATEMENT: “So, we’re a non-profit organization … we are not subject to the Freedom of Information Act.”

ANSWER: Unfortunately, this is true, but this is probably the best reason we must rid ourselves of having to live under such authoritarian undemocratic form of government.

STATEMENT: “This morning, Mr. Parsons had gathered up some people and crash our ACC meeting. We’re not open to the public.”

ANSWER: Why is ACC not open to the public? What is it they must hide?

STATEMENT: “So there is an appeal process, but our meetings are not open to the public.”

ANSWER: What is wrong with public input?

STATEMENT: “We usually have about enough time for four people to speak.”

ANSWER: The people are not important enough to give them time to speak?

STATEMENT: “So our ACC committee is independent of Cooper Communities, with the exception that they appoint the members.”

ANSWER: The 2020 ACC Annual Report to the Arkansas Secretary of State shows that the committee members are: John Cooper; Borem Cooper, Senior Vice President of Cooper Communities, Inc. (CCI); Neff Basore; Mike Tagart of the POA; Buddy Vernetti; and Theresa Neal. How can ACC be independent from CCI with all of these Cooper people on the committee?

STATEMENT: “White was not a ‘happy color’ for Bella Vista.”

ANSWER: At last year’s 4th of July Patriot Parade and on Veterans Day Congressman Steve Womack said that Bella Vista is one of the most patriotic cities in America and that we bleed red WHITE and blue. The white stripes in our American flag represent purity and innocence. The snow on the ground that fell earlier this year was white and the dogwood blossoms that are now blooming are white and most wedding cakes are white. Tell me, what is wrong with white?

STATEMENT: “People in general don’t like to be told what to do.”

ANSWER: This statement is true. Most Americans don’t like being told what to do. We cherish freedom almost over everything else.

STATEMENT: Director Vernetti admitted that ACC is understaffed, and they do not have the ability to administer the rules equally.

ANSWER: This being the case, ACC needs to fold and allow the city prosecuting attorney and police department to enforce the city ordinances.

STATEMENT: If you think a white fence is your American dream, you better not buy in Bella Vista.

ANSWER: For some Americans, a statement like that is enough to not buy in Bella Vista and that doesn’t do anything to help our property values.

STATEMENT: “This committee is not going to change (policies) based on what the general public wants.”

ANSWER: The Arkansas motto is Regnant Populus (The People Rule). America lives and breathes on the principle of “We the People.”

“GO-AWAY-ACC.”
