Man laid off from aviation work seeks help for holidays
Share the Season is an annual campaign that offers one-time aid to people affected by unforeseen hardships. The people are not identified to protect their privacy.
A Wichita man who works in aviation was laid off from his job as an aircraft electrician in September.
His wife earns a small monthly pension.
Trying to find a new job at this time of the year is difficult, the man said in an application to Share the Season asking for help.
"It would be a huge blessing if I could make it through the holidays, and I could start with a new job after the new year starts for aircraft companies," the man wrote on his application, requesting payment of some monthly bills.
Share the Season is helping people such as this man and his wife this holiday season. Donations are accepted year-round, and applications from those needing aid are being taken through noon Dec. 14. Share the Season is a joint project of The Eagle, the Wichita Community Foundation and the Salvation Army. So far this season, it has raised nearly $69,000.
