County records 6 new coronaviru­s outbreaks

Data from Colorado Department of Public Health and Environmen­t shows six new coronaviru­s outbreaks in Boulder County, while county case data did not update Wednesday.

Outbreaks have been determined at Aunt Alice’s Kitchen in Longmont, BixSchool in Boulder, Life Care Center of Longmont, Morningsta­r Assisted Living and Memor y Care of Boulder, The Learning Experience in Lafayette and TLC Learning Center in Longmont.

The University of Colorado Boulder’s coronaviru­s outbreak, determined Sept. 23, shows 20 staff and 1,570 attendees, or students, have

positive for the virus to date. There are also 188 students considered probable for the virus.

Boulder County’s coronaviru­s dashboard did not update Wednesday with new cases because of an upload error, Boulder County Public Health spokespers­on Chana Goussetis said.

“A lab uploaded all negaby tive tests results instead of all positive test results. It will take us the evening to sort through the data, so we will have the next data update on our website tomorrow,” Goussetis said Wednesday afternoon.

As of Tuesday, Boulder County sits at 5,544 cases and 85 deaths.

State data shows the outbreak at Aunt Alice’s Kitchteste­d en was determined Oct. 12, and eight staff members have tested positive.

“We are having to close temporaril­y to abide by all COVID regulation­s that the health department set forth through the CDC and other organizati­ons to keep the public safe,” a post on Facebook from Aunt Alice’s Kitchen said Oct. 14. “Our No. 1 concern is the health of our staff and customers.”

The restaurant reopened Oct. 16 and all staff members who tested positive are quarantini­ng, a restaurant employee said.

The outbreak at Bixby School was determined Monday, data shows, with one staff member and one attendee testing positive for the virus. A representa­tive

from Bixby School could not be reached for comment.

Life Care Center of Longmont had an outbreak determined Oct. 22. Data shows eight residents have tested positive, three residents are considered probable and four staff have tested positive. A representa­tive from Life Care Center could not be reached for comment.

This is the center’s second outbreak. The first was determined April 3, data shows, and it was resolved May 12. There were 15 residents who tested positive, seven who were considered probable, eight deaths linked to the virus, one death considered probable, seven staff who tested positive and six staff considered probable.

The outbreak at Morningsta­r Assisted Living and Memor y Care in Boulder was determined Oct. 21. Data shows two residents and two staff have tested positive. Representa­tives could not be reached for comment.

The Learning Experience had a coronaviru­s outbreak determined Monday with two staff members testing positive. The child care center previously had a coronaviru­s outbreak determined Aug. 3 and resolved Sept. 4, data shows, with two staff members testing positive. Representa­tives could not be reached for comment.

The outbreak at TLC Learning Center was also determined Monday with two staff members testing positive.

Executive Director Matt Eldred said the two cases were reported on two separate days. The center closed for six days for deep cleaning and reopened Wednesday, he said. The staff members are still quarantini­ng per public health guidelines, he said.

CU Boulder’s coronaviru­s dashboard shows four new cases returned from 122 diagnostic tests performed Tuesday. There have been 1,145 positive results from on-campus testing since Aug. 24.

There are three isolation spaces in use, or .5% of available space. There were 1,035 monitoring tests performed Tuesday, brining the campus to 43,393 monitoring tests performed since Aug. 24. The dashboard shows 6,472 diagnostic tests completed since Aug. 24.

St. Vrain Valley’s coronaviru­s dashboard shows 101 cumulative cases among the district. Of those, 33 are active.

The dashboard lists the following active cases among students: two at

Alpine Elementar y, one at Coal Ridge Middle, one at Erie Elementar y, two at Frederick High, one at Launched Virtual Academy, one at Mead High, one at Niwot High, one at Northridge Elementary, one at Odle Columbine High, one at Rocky Mountain Elementar y, three at Silver Creek High, three at Silver Creek High, three at Skyline High, two at Sunset Middle, three at Thunder Valley PK-8 and two at Trail Ridge Middle.

Among staff, the following cases are active: one in the Career Developmen­t Center, one at Erie High, one at Longmont High, one at Mead High, one at Soaring Heights PK-8, one at Sunset Middle and two at Central Administra­tion.

Boulder Valley School District’s coronaviru­s dashboard shows 14 active cases. There are nine symptomati­c cases pending test results and three probable cases among symptomati­c individual­s who have been in contact with someone who tested positive.

The dashboard lists the following active cases: one at Crest View Elementary, three at Eisenhower Elementar y, one at Fireside Elementar y, one at Foothill Elementar y, one at Gold Hill Elementar y, one at Angevine Middle, one at

Broomfield Heights Middle, one at Southern Hills Middle and four at Boulder High.

Students at both Boulder High School and Eisenhower Elementary will learn remotely for the next two weeks because too few teachers are available for in-person classes during required quarantine­s, the Boulder Valley School District announced Wednesday.

There is one symptomati­c case pending results at Douglass Elementar y, one at Foothill Elementar y, one at High Peaks Elementary, two at Nederland Elementar y, one at Pioneer Elementary, two at Ryan Elementar y and one at Boulder Community School of Integrated Studies, the dashboard shows.

One Probable case is listed each at Columbine Elementary, Douglass Elementary and Broomfield Heights Middle.

Statewide, there have been 100,208 positive or probable cases. There have been 2,249 deaths among the cases, and of those, there have been 2,094 deaths because of the coronaviru­s. There have been 8,854 people hospitaliz­ed. Of Colorado’s roughly 5.7 million population, 1,185,043 people have been tested for the virus.
