Notable: The season-opening matchup will mark the college coaching debut for Mccaffrey, who most recently was the head coach at Valor Christian High School. … Mccaffrey played receiver in the NFL for 13 years (1991-2003), including nine seasons with the Denver Broncos. With the Broncos, he caught 462 passes for 6,200 yards and 46 touchdowns, while helping them win two Super Bowls. … For three of Mccaffrey's seasons with the Broncos (2000-02), his position coach was Karl Dorrell, now the head coach of the Buffs. … CU won the last meeting, 41-21, at Folsom Field on Sept. 16, 2017.
