Save the date for the

2021 Day of Caring, which is coming in September. Day of Caring is the largest, single-day volunteer event in Boulder and Broomfield counties. It is an opportunit­y for volunteers to get out and support community projects across the region. This year’s event will be Sept. 10, combining in-person volunteer opportunit­ies with virtual opportunit­ies to provide a variety of volunteer experience­s. We welcome corporate groups, community and civic groups, and individual­s 18 and older. While registrati­on is currently not open, informatio­n will be provided here when it is.

Boulder Seniors Foundation supports older adults in the Boulder community with emergency assistance for rent and utilities, Wifi access, medical, dental, optometry, hearing and counseling expenses. In addition, the foundation co-sponsors educationa­l and other programs at the Age Well Center, 909 Arapahoe Ave. in Boulder, at the intersecti­on of 9th Street and Arapahoe Avenue. Any donation helps keep Boulder’s older adults safely in their homes and helps them avoid food insecurity. Informatio­n: boulder seniorsfou­ndation.org.

Boulder Shelter Most needed items at this time are sugar, coffee, hand sanitizer, masks, Tylenol/ Advil/aspirin, cough and cold medicine (alcohol free), laundry detergent, soap, travel-sized shampoo, body wash and lotion and vitamins. Things can be ordered online and delivered to Boulder Shelter for the Homeless, 4869 N. Broadway, Boulder, CO, 80304. Boulder Treasures: Help transform the lives of adults living with developmen­tal disabiliti­es. You might know us through our job training apprentice program hosted at Ramble on Pearl. Our parent nonprofit, Boulder Treasures, creates pathways to purpose and community, and we’re growing with new programs and services coming online in 2021. Broomfield FISH: A grocery store donation box is available at King Soopers on 120th and Sheridan, Hwy. 287 or 136th and Zuni and at Safeway on 144th and Lowell as well as Sprouts on 120th and Sheridan. Cake4kids is a nonprofit organizati­on that provides free birthday cakes to atrisk youth and foster children ages 1-24. Volunteer home bakers are needed to make custom cakes. There is no minimum time requiremen­t. Volunteers should be proficient bakers with a good level of decorating skill. Volunteers should be at least 18, or

Circle of Care, an arts and aging nonprofit, is seeking volunteers who love the performing arts and older people to serve as performanc­e companions this summer, and beyond, and help older adults attend great concerts and events. Help end social isolation for people as they age. Circle of Care Volunteers provide door-todoor rides and caring support and help build community for all ages while enjoying the arts, culture, community, and concerts together at great local arts and cultural venues. Tickets are provided for free to Circle of Care volunteer driver/escorts. Volunteers must be highly responsibl­e, dependable, and at least 21 years and older to drive. An excellent driving record is a must. Volunteers will be asked to provide drivers license and auto insurance informatio­n and to attend a volunteer orientatio­n. Cultivate is in need of volunteers to support its senior neighbors through programs such as rides to medical appointmen­ts for militar y veterans and their senior family members; grocery shopping and delivery; minor home repairs; snow shoveling and yard cleanup. Feet Forward is an all-inclusive, nonprofit organizati­on in Boulder providing individual­s experienci­ng homelessne­ss with increased access to hot food, beverages, clothing and toiletries. Flatirons Habitat for Humanity: We are currently working on two new home constructi­on sites in Boulder that will provide affordable homes for 22 families. Come as an individual or as a group, and there is no need for prior constructi­on experience. We will provide all necessary tools, training and instructio­n. Harvest of Hope Food Pantry has switched to a “carhop” service and is offering curbside delivery. Our most needed food items are ready-to-eat soup, peanut butter, canned pasta meals, canned chili and boxes of healthy snack bars. Find out more about hosting a food drive at hopepantry.org/fooddrive. Donations are accepted between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Monday through Friday at 2960 Valmont Road in Boulder. Ring the bell at the back of the door and donations will be handled. If you are not in one of the highrisk groups, consider volunteeri­ng: hopepantry.org/ volunteer. Volunteers work in small groups, packing bags, stocking, weighing donations, and helping with other tasks. Donations can also be made at: hopepantry.org/donate.

H.O.P.E. Homeless Outreach is in need of lunch bags, small and large surgical gloves, plastic forks and bottles of water, trial size shampoo and conditione­r, large paper plates, disposable drinking cups, paper towels, toilet paper, and hand sanitizer. The following clothing, washed and in a clean plastic bag, is also needed: Women’s pants: sizes 4,5,8-10; men’s pants: 30,32, 34, 36; women’s tank tops all sizes; men’s shoes size 5-11. Monetary donations are welcome. Services include showers, internet, meals, a place to rest and resources. Restaurant­s are also sought for daytime meals for up to 25 people. Sister Carmen Community Center needs volunteers for its food bank, thrift store and garden. Food bank volunteer tasks include welcoming donors, receiving and weighing donations, giving receipts, sorting food donations, checking expiration dates, stocking shelves, repacking bulk items, assisting with coolers and checkout and assisting clients as they shop for food. A threemonth commitment to work at least one 2.5 hour shift weekly is required. Shifts are available from 9-11:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. or 2-4:30 p.m. Monday-friday, or 4:30-7 p.m. Wednesday. Training provided. Thrift Store volunteer tasks include sorting and hanging clothing, putting priced items on the floor, merchandis­ing, etc. Shifts are drop-in after training but volunteers are especially needed in donations on Saturdays. Tgthr is in need of street outreach volunteers who help connect youth and other people experienci­ng homelessne­ss with our services and services in the greater community. Must be 21 and available for 2 hour time slots between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Meal donations for our programs are also always needed. Thorne Nature Experience: Summer Camp Teaching Assistant needed. Volunteer to help connect youth to nature. Thorne offers day camps in Boulder and Lafayette for youth ages 3-15. TRU Thrift Shop earnings support compassion­ate end-of-life care, grief support, and education. The nonprofit thrift shop needs volunteers to sort donations in the following department­s: clothing, electronic­s, furniture, household items, art, books, and linens. All donations are processed for quality, pricing and displaying. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old unless accompanie­d by an adult and shifts are typically for four hours.
