ENGLEWOOD — The Broncos swung their second trade in 48 hours on Monday, acquiring starting inside linebacker Kenny Young from the Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams flipped Young, who is a free agent after the season, and a 2024 seventh-round pick to the Broncos for a sixthround selection in ’24.

On Saturday, the Broncos acquired Stephen Weatherly and a ’23 seventh-round pick from Minnesota for a ’23 sixthround pick.

General manager George Paton, who has completed eight trades since being hired in January, added Weatherly to play outside and Young to play inside.

The Broncos have six linebackers on injured reserve, including starters Josey Jewell, Alexander Johnson and Bradley Chubb, and active roster injuries include Von Miller (ankle), Baron Browning (concussion) and Aaron Patrick (ankle).

Young, 26, started all seven games for the Rams this year, posting totals of 46 tackles, two sacks and 384 defensive snaps.

Listed at 6-foot-1 and 234 pounds, Young was originally a fourth-round draft choice by Baltimore in 108. He made 51 tackles and 2 1/2 sacks for the Ravens as a rookie and started three of his five games in ’19 before being traded to the Rams.

In 32 games (13 starts) for the Rams, he had 98 tackles and three sacks. Young had seven tackles and one sack in 38 snaps Sunday in the Rams’ win over Detroit.

Young’s transition to the Broncos’ defense should be helped by playing last year for then-rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley, who was formerly an assistant for Vic Fangio for Chicago and the Broncos.

Since the start of the regular season, the Broncos have lost both Week 1 inside linebackers (Jewell and Johnson) with yearending pectoral injuries, have seen Chubb play only 19 snaps in one game (out since Week 2) and saw their depth depleted due to injuries by Browning, Jonas Griffin (hamstring), Andre Mintze (hamstring) and Micah Kiser (groin).
