TC Line triggers

So many people call in to offer their rebuttal when others criticize their party or representative. That’s called triggering. How about just once tell how great your guy is instead of how bad the other guy is/was?

Mass shootings

• Another mass shooter has been given a life sentence. And there are people out there that think that’s actually some form of justice.

• On May 14last year, a man murdered 10 people at a Buffalo, N.Y., supermarket. (Wednesday), nine months after the shooting, he was sentenced to life in prison. The shooting … in King Soopers happened on March 22 of 2021. The (accused) shooter in that case has not yet been tried because according to his lawyer he is too crazy to be tried. … Anyone who commits these mass shootings is by definition crazy. Why was Buffalo able to bring their shooter to trial and convict and sentence him in only nine months, while the Boulder King Soopers (suspect) has as yet not been tried, nearly two years later? And it took Colorado three years to put the Aurora theater shooter in prison. It raises questions: Are we just a bunch of bleeding-heart handwringers here? Or are a lot of lawyers and psychiatrists getting rich on delaying these cases?

• Another day, another bit of news about some mass shooting. I think that anyone who wants to own a highcapacity weapon magazine or anything larger than six rounds, or for that matter any assault weapons, should be able to own and keep them — just as many as they can swallow.

Confused

Quality journalism requires communicating clearly. I’m confused by (Thursday’s) article titled “Bankers face fin-tech competition. Although I’m widely read, I have neither seen nor heard the term fin-tech. Interesting, it is not defined in the article. Really? Please clarify. Editor’s note: Fintech is a blend of the words “financial” and “technology.” According to Forbes.com, “It’s a catchall term for technology used to augment, streamline, digitize or disrupt traditional financial services.” Examples are mobile banking and Venmo.

Ethics committee

During this time in our lives, with the way the world is and everything, I think it’s a wonderful idea that the City Council brought up an ethics committee with everything that’s going on. So I would like to thank the Council for establishing an ethics committee, if they do that. I know there was some discussion about it, but I hope that it goes through.
