Cancel culture

-

• I wonder if the conservatives concerned over the cancellation of “Dilbert” are equally concerned about conservative cancel culture of anything deemed woke, such as Disney, M&MS, transgender people or any history they don’t like. For some strange reason, I doubt it.

• As a self identified antiracist, pro freedom of speech activist, I’m having a hard time continuing to support even our local newspaper when they choose to punish and silenced the “Dilbert” cartoon author because of his refusal to be part of a racist hate group by his definition. Rather than simply cancel him because it doesn’t fit the narrative, shouldn’t the debate be about what is the definition of a hate group?

• I am sick of Republicans crying about canceled culture. OK, so you want to preserve racist culture and racist tradition. Well, then you should also be fighting for or at least tolerating all cultures having the right to freely express themselves publicly, including all aspects of LGBTQ culture, Hispanic culture, African American culture, Asian culture, Muslim culture, immigrant culture, and so on. You should also stop whining about public schools teaching real history to students, which includes American culture that allowed for some particularly ugly events in U.S. history. But let’s be clear: If there was a Muslim person of color who was also a syndicated comic artist, and she hated on evangelical white people, you would be the first in line to call the newspaper and threaten to cancel your subscription.

Drag queen stories

• Drag queen story hour is not a safe space for our children. However, subjecting children to religious indoctrination that uses eternal torture as a means of extortion for belief in a terrorist god is OK.

• There’s a line in Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” that says … “the lady doth protest too much.” I think those guys protesting drag shows are exposing their own deep-seated gender identity issues. By the way, in Shakespeare’s time, all the female roles were played by men in drag.

Woke

I really don’t mind people calling me calling me woke because I care about children living in poverty and things like that. But I would remind people that they would then be calling Jesus woke.

DUI? Just potholes

I was pulled over for suspected DUI. I just told the officer I was dodging potholes. No charges filed.
