Woke

• If you need a definition for woke, try this: Woke is the politically correct term for politically correct.

• The reason conservatives are so opposed to wokeness is that it’s the radical left’s positions on race, sex, gender, abortion and environmentalism. It’s anticapitalism and anti-u.s. Constitution.

• Regarding the call-in on GOP and woke: The term woke was originally coined by progressive Black Americans and used in racial justice movements in the early to mid-1900s. It began to gain more popularity at the start of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2014, according to the dictionary. In the past nine years this word has evolved into a single word summation of leftist political ideology, centered on social justice, politics and critical race theory. This framing of woke is bipartisan. It’s used as a shorthand for political progressiveness by the left and as a denigration of the leftist culture by the right. In summary, neither the left nor the right know how to use the word woke.

Voting felons

• There are people who have never been felons who don’t vote. There are felons who have done their time who will never vote. The people who will vote feel they have a stake in the outcome of an election. And let’s be real: There are people who have been voting who’ve never been caught for their crimes. If you’ve paid for your crimes and want to rejoin society, it should include voting.

• My daughter married a young man who spent five years in prison. While he was there, he took advantage of all the programs to better himself and reform. I’m damn proud to call it my son-in-law, and yes he should be able to vote. Just because you mess up one time doesn’t mean you should have to live with it for a lifetime.

Thank you

Blessings to the generous lady who paid for my groceries at King Soopers (on Monday). I shall pay it forward. Thank you.

Battery factory

Regarding the battery factory in Brighton: Does Amprius Technologies have any ties to China? Who owns the land where the factory will be built? And how will the factory be powered?

Renewable energy

I was reading the article about the climate change and how the renewable energy was coming online, so I looked at the current energy production, March 7, at 11:40a.m. for the Platte River (Power Authority). … 47.4% of the energy is being produced by coal. 46.6% of the energy is being produced by natural gas. No energy is produced by wind. Solar is producing 1.3%. And hydro is producing 4.7%. When the wind don’t blow (and) the sun don’t shine, you don’t get any renewable energy.
