-

Hulda Maureen Duensing, 80 of Pekin, Illinois passed away at 4:18am, Monday, March 13, 2023 at her home. She was born to Benton and Iris Scheide in Denver, Colorado on September 19, 1942. She married William James Duensing on July 2, 1976 in Richmond, Virginia. Maureen was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved dog- - - her Great White Pyrenees, Silver Girl.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Duensing: one daughter Kim and (Mark) Goldman of St. Louis, Missouri; one son Kevin and (Cindy) Miller of Whangarei, New Zealand; two granddaughters, Caroline and Julia Miller; and one brother, William Sivers Scheide of Bakersfield, California. Beauty comes in so many forms, it is hard to define and only with proper perspective are we able to fully appreciate its incarnations. A gift of one form can carry a person through life but occasionally a person is born who is blessed with an entire spectrum of beauty. Maureen was such a person. She brought to the world not just physical beauty but moreover, a singular intellect which defined the whole of her life. Her love of dancing, books, movies, and cooking were the ostensible manifestations of her talents and she pursued her love of these things with a gentility and sense of humor which permeated through to her ultimate gift, which was her ability to love. Maureen met her husband Bill more than 50 years ago and devoted her life to him (and him to her) as soulmates which seemed preordained. They have shared a life with each other and their children, Kim and Kevin, endowed with a richness of spirit that never faded. Maureen was the matriarch of her family for 60 years and her passing leaves a void which will echo in the hearts of her family forever. Our family's beauty was to mirror her love.

A memorial will be held at a later date in Magnolia, Iowa with interment in Magnolia Cemetery.
