Veterans deserve benefits of PACT Act

-

The Sergeant First Class Heath Robinson Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics, better known as the PACT Act of 2022, is a new law that expands VA health care and benefits for veterans exposed to burn pits and other environmental toxins from

World II through the present time of military service. This law helps provide generations of veterans, and their survivors, with expanded care and benefits they have earned and deserve.

U.S. military veterans and family members with questions about PACT Act benefits, or eligibility for other potential VA benefits like disability claims, health care, burial, and memorial services, can get answers and file for benefits at American Legion Post 32. Post 32, located at 315 S. Bowen St., Longmont, is hosting an open house on Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with food, music, family activities, and a variety of information on Legion programs, and resources available to veterans and their family members. Specifically, from 1 to 5 p.m. former chairman for the Legion’s national Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation Commission, along with representatives from the Rocky Mountain Regional VA Medical Center, and the VA Regional Office, will be available to provide information on the PACT Act, VA healthcare, VA disability claims, and processing for the Burn Pit Registry. American Legion Veterans Service Officer Will Davis and Boulder County Veterans Service Officer Sasha Mathews will be available to assist with and process VA disability claims.

All veterans, their families, and the community are invited to attend to learn more about what VA offers and how to access veteran benefits, and to learn about other programs and activities provided by the American Legion, including eligibility for Legion Family membership.
