Trump would ruin our nation as president

- — Diane Wood, Longmont

I believe the Senate and House must invoke the 14th Amendment keeping Donald Trump from being elected as president or holding any other federal or state office.

You may remember when President Trump met Putin in Helsinki and said on stage that Putin did not interfere with the 2016 election despite our own intelligence people saying he did. And when Trump traveled to North Korea, he admired Kim Jong Un and exchanged” love letters” with him.

If we elect Trump again, he will perform like Putin and Kim Jong Un and change the United States into an autocratic nation like Russia and North Korea. Our democracy and our constitutional rights would end.

Now Putin is meeting with Kim Jong Un and expects to get arms from him to use on Ukraine. Putin is a killer. He sends missile strikes at hospitals, schools and shopping streets. Trump, if elected, would side the United States with Russia and North Korea. He would end democracy in the United States and become a mafia-style dictator. He would pull the United States out of NATO and abandon Ukraine. Trump’s supporters years ago changed the Republican Party into a MAGA authoritarian party.

Today Trump faces 91 counts of crimes in four courts. These include the Jan. 6 insurrection he fomented and his pressuring of Georgia officials to change the vote totals in Georgia to make Trump the winner. Fortunately, Georgia Secretary of State Raffensperger did not do what Trump demanded.

MAGA people say Joe Biden is too old. It is true that he is less energetic than his younger days. But his character is unaffected and makes him a perfect candidate for president of the United States.

Please do not let Trump become president again and ruin our nation.
