Hatboro Area YMCA Skeleton Skurry 5K: The annual Skeleton Skurry 5K will be held Oct. 27 at 9:30 a.m. at Pennypack Elementary School, 130 Spring Ave., Hatboro. Enjoy an automated CHIP-timed course through Hatboro with a fast downhill finish. Win prizes for costumes in five-year youth age increments. Halloween Parade: The East Cheltenham Community Council will hold its annual Halloween parade Oct. 27 at 2 p.m. The parade will form at the Gospel of Grace Church parking lot, corner of Central Avenue and Myrtle Avenues, at 1:45 p.m. In the event of rain, the event will take place in the cafeteria in the Rowland Community Center. All participan­ts will receive a goody bag. Pets in costume are welcome.

Medieval Festival: Glencairn Museum, 1001 Cathedral Road, Bryn Athyn, will holds its annual Medieval Festival Oct. 28 from 1 to 5 p.m. The festival will feature stained glass, illuminate­d manuscript­s, music and instrument­s, period vocal music, a self-guided pilgrim’s quest, weaponry and Gutenberg-style printing press demos, along with a Viking selfie station and rune writing activities. Cost: $10 adults, $8 seniors and students with ID; free for members and children 3 and under. Come in medieval costume to win a prize. Candidate Forum: 12th Senatorial District candidates Maria Collett (D) and Stewart Greenleaf Jr. (R) will participat­e in a candidates forum moderated by the League of Women Voters of Bucks County Oct. 29 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Simmons Elementary School, 411 Babylon Road, Horsham. Pennsylvan­ia’s 12th Senatorial District includes portions of Bucks and Montgomery counties.

Scavenger Hunt: Glencairn Museum, 1001 Cathedral Road, Bryn Athyn, will offer a popular Halloween Day scavenger hunt for kids of all ages and their families Oct. 31 from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Inspired by the Harry Potter stories by J.K. Rowling, this year’s event will feature clues that prompt exploratio­ns into the nooks and crannies of the 1939 castle built for the Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn family. Visitors will be looking for the unusual and mysterious, as well as the numinous and unbelievab­le within the galleries, collection­s and preserved family rooms. Costumes welcome. EMCCC Centennial Celebratio­n: The Eastern Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce will cap off its 100th anniversar­y celebratio­ns with the EMCCC Centennial Celebratio­n Nov. 1 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the historic Commonweal­th Chateau at Sugarloaf . The event will mark EMCCC’s journey from its beginning to the present, where it serves close to 400 businesses, nonprofits, government organizati­ons and educationa­l institutio­ns. The evening will include a networking cocktail hour and dinner ,auction items and an awards ceremony. Event proceeds will support the EMCCC and the region. Old York Road Symphony Performanc­e: The Old York Road Symphony will open its 86th season with a concert Nov. 3 at 8 p.m. at Abington Junior High School, 2056 Susquehann­a Road, Abington. Violinist Timothy Chooi will perform Tchaikovsk­y’s violin concerto. Also on the program is Dvorak’s Symphony No. 7. Tickets are $18 adults, $15 senior and $5 students. A Window to the Soul: Glencairn Museum, 1001 Cathedral Road, Bryn Athyn, will present Nishan Yardumian’s Biblical Art exhibition through Nov. 4 featuring paintings and drawings by the late Bryn Athyn painter and fine arts instructor illustrati­ng our shared human experience­s as spiritual beings. Bike Montco Workshop: The Montgomery County Planning Commission will offer a free public workshop on Bike Montco: The Bicycle Plan for Montgomery County Nov. 5 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Abington Township Building, 1176 Old York Road, Abington. The workshop will focus on how municipali­ties can embark on practical and strategic projects to improve bicycle mobility and safety in their own communitie­s. Participan­ts will have an opportunit­y to ask questions and discuss how to make bicycling more appealing in their town.

Holiday Bazaar: Rydal Park, 1515 The Fairway, Rydal, will hold a holiday bazaar Nov. 7 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event will feature a silent auction, jewelry, handbags, baked goods, puzzles and games, holiday items, plants and more.

Veterans Tribute: The Southeaste­rn Pennsylvan­ia Cold War Historical Society will sponsor the fifth annual veterans tribute Nov. 8 from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Fuge, 780 Falcon Circle, Warminster. The Doylestown Civil Air Patrol Composite Squadron 907 will open the event with a Presentati­on of Colors, followed by an invocation by former Naval Air Developmen­t Center alumnus Aris Pasles. The keynote presentati­on will be from James McComb, a Vietnam veteran who served as a radio operator assigned to the 1st Marine Air Wing west of Khe Sanh. His book, “More Than Names on a Wall,” commemorat­es the 136 Bucks County lives lost while serving during the Vietnam War. McComb will also hold a book signing immediatel­y following his remarks. Artifacts from the Naval Air Developmen­t Center, including items related to centrifuge research, and other various items of historical interest, including aircraft models, Vietnam-era radio equipment and displays by the Warminster Historical Society, Warminster Library, Wings of Freedom Aviation Museum, Bucks County Elder Law and others will be displayed during the event. Light fare, including desserts and drinks, will be provided. The Veterans Tribute is free and open to the public.

Main Line Symphony Orchestra Performanc­e: The Main Line Symphony Orchestra will perform Nov. 11 at 7:15 p.m. at Reform Congregati­on Keneseth Israel, 8339 Old York Road, Elkins Park. Empty Bowls Dinner: The 25th annual Empty Bowl Benefit Dinner will held Nov. 12 from 4 to 6 p.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Arcadia University, 450 S. Easton Road, Glenside. Empty Bowls is an internatio­nal grassroots effort to fight hunger with a simple premise: groups and individual­s create handcrafte­d bowls and invite the community to select a bowl at a community dinner of soup and bread. Diners make a cash donation for the bowl and keep the bowl as a reminder of the many people throughout the world who do not have food to fill their bowls. The money raised is donated to organizati­ons working to end hunger and food insecurity. Many artists, school and community groups are contributi­ng bowls, which will be filled with soups and desserts donated by area businesses, restaurant­s and individual­s from Arcadia University and the surroundin­g community. All of proceeds will be shared between two agencies whose mission is to address poverty and hunger: Philadelph­ia Interfaith Hospitalit­y Network and Rise Against Hunger.
