Doris Hardy of Sellersville
Doris “Gert” Hardy, 82, passed away at her Sellersville, PA home on Nov. 16, 2018. She was the wife of the late Donald Walton Hardy who passed away in 1981.
Born February 13, 1936 in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Gustav and Gertrude (Schmunk) Petry. She was a 1954 graduate of Central Bucks High School and became a registered nurse after graduating from Grand View Hospital School of Nursing in 1957.
Mrs. Hardy worked in obstetrics and the nursery at Grand View Hospital until she started raising her family. She later was employed with Rockhill Mennonite Community and then with Dr. G. W. Hedrick of Souderton, PA. She retired in 2008 after employment for 17 years with Tri-Valley Primary Care’s Indian Valley Office.
Mrs. Hardy was an active member of St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hilltown, PA, where she served on church council.
Surviving are three children, D. Michael Hardy and his wife, Kelly, Shirley L. Werner and her husband, Arthur Werner, III, and Linda Carol Gotzon and John; a daughter-inlaw, Darlene Hardy; two brothers, Fred Petry and Rev. William Petry and his wife, Linda; 11 grandchildren, and 2 great granddaughters. She is also survived by her dear partner, Donald Snyder.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Hardy; and by a sister-inlaw, Betty Petry.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service at 11:30AM on Dec. 1, 2018, at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1530 Augsburg Dr., Hilltown, PA 18927, where family will receive friends from 9:30AM until 11:15AM. A luncheon will follow. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
