Doris Hardy of Sellersville

Doris “Gert” Hardy, 82, passed away at her Sellersville, PA home on Nov. 16, 2018. She was the wife of the late Don­ald Wal­ton Hardy who passed away in 1981.

Born Fe­bru­ary 13, 1936 in Philadel­phia, PA, she was the daugh­ter of the late Gus­tav and Gertrude (Sch­munk) Petry. She was a 1954 grad­u­ate of Cen­tral Bucks High School and be­came a reg­is­tered nurse af­ter grad­u­at­ing from Grand View Hos­pi­tal School of Nurs­ing in 1957.

Mrs. Hardy worked in ob­stet­rics and the nurs­ery at Grand View Hos­pi­tal un­til she started rais­ing her fam­ily. She later was em­ployed with Rock­hill Men­non­ite Com­mu­nity and then with Dr. G. W. Hedrick of Soud­er­ton, PA. She re­tired in 2008 af­ter em­ploy­ment for 17 years with Tri-Val­ley Pri­mary Care’s In­dian Val­ley Of­fice.

Mrs. Hardy was an ac­tive mem­ber of St. Peter’s Evan­gel­i­cal Lutheran Church of Hill­town, PA, where she served on church coun­cil.

Sur­viv­ing are three chil­dren, D. Michael Hardy and his wife, Kelly, Shirley L. Werner and her hus­band, Arthur Werner, III, and Linda Carol Got­zon and John; a daugh­ter-in­law, Dar­lene Hardy; two broth­ers, Fred Petry and Rev. Wil­liam Petry and his wife, Linda; 11 grand­chil­dren, and 2 great grand­daugh­ters. She is also sur­vived by her dear part­ner, Don­ald Sny­der.

In ad­di­tion to her hus­band, she was pre­ceded in death by a son, Thomas Hardy; and by a sis­ter-in­law, Betty Petry.

Rel­a­tives and friends are in­vited to at­tend her memo­rial ser­vice at 11:30AM on Dec. 1, 2018, at St. Peter’s Evan­gel­i­cal Lutheran Church, 1530 Augs­burg Dr., Hill­town, PA 18927, where fam­ily will re­ceive friends from 9:30AM un­til 11:15AM. A lun­cheon will fol­low. Burial will be pri­vate. In lieu of flow­ers, con­tri­bu­tions may be made in her mem­ory to the church or to the char­ity of the donor’s choice. Preschool Class: Preschool Class takes place Tues­days at 10:30 a.m. This class helps chil­dren de­velop kinder­garten readi­ness skills by teach­ing con­cepts such as the days of the week, letters, count­ing, rhyming words, weather, col­ors and shapes. The class also fea­tures sto­ries, mu­sic and move­ment ac­tiv­i­ties and a craft. For ages 3 to 5.
