Fire remains under investigation
CHELTENHAM >> The cause of a fire that broke out in the crawl space of a home in the 1600 block of Juniper Avenue is still under investigation, according to Fire Marshal Joe O’Neill.
The residents were awakened by a smoke detector around 6:30 a.m. Nov. 13 and saw smoke and called the fire department, O’Neill said. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke inside and outside the home and had to ventilate the home and use thermal imaging to locate the fire, he said.
“We had to saw up the floor in the utility room and den; it was a lot of damage,” O’Neill said.
About 30 firefighters from LaMott, Ogontz, Elkins Park, Glenside and Jenkintown fire companies responded to the fire, which was under control in about 50 minutes, he
