Mario F. D’Elia, Sr., 85, of Am­bler, died sud­denly on De­cem­ber 24, 2018 at his home. He was the beloved hus­band of the late Philom­ena C. (Ro­manelli) D’Elia. He was born in Abing­ton, PA on Sep­tem­ber 21, 1933 to the late Al­bert and Maria (Sig­nore) D’Elia. Mario was a grad­u­ate of Am­bler High School class of 1951. He served our coun­try in the US Army dur­ing the Ko­rean Con­flict with rank of SP4. Mario was em­ployed as a Lead Su­per­vi­sor at Merck and Co. for 42 years un­til his re­tire­ment. She was a de­voted mem­ber of St. Joseph Church in Am­bler, a mem­ber of the Sons of Italy LRB Lodge #543 of Am­bler, and the Fil­i­talia Am­bler Chap­ter. He en­joyed golf­ing, fol­low­ing the Philadel­phia sports teams, spend­ing time with his fam­ily, and his grand dog Alex. He is sur­vived by his 3 chil­dren Gina Virkler and Henry of Nor­ris­town, Mario F. D’Elia, Jr. and Joan of Ply­mouth Meet­ing, Al­bert P. D’Elia and Joanne M. of Haver­town, 6 grand­chil­dren Gianna Rose, Alis­ter Chap­man, Mario F. III, Lau­ren Grace, Luke An­thony and Colin Al­bert, his sis­ters Mary Ridg­way of Langhorne, Clara D’Elia of Lans­dale, and many nieces and neph­ews. He was pre-de­ceased by sib­lings Michael, Al­bert “Birdie”, An­thony D’Elia, Jenny Bal­dasari, Florence Costagno, Eva Bevilac­qua. Rel­a­tives and friends are in­vited to his Fu­neral Mass on Mon­day, De­cem­ber 31, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 16 S. Spring Gar­den St., Am­bler. The View­ing will be Sun­day from 6-8 p.m. and Mon­day from 9-10 a.m. all at St. Joseph Church. En­tomb­ment St. Patrick Mau­soleum.
