Mario F. D’Elia Sr.
Mario F. D’Elia, Sr., 85, of Ambler, died suddenly on December 24, 2018 at his home. He was the beloved husband of the late Philomena C. (Romanelli) D’Elia. He was born in Abington, PA on September 21, 1933 to the late Albert and Maria (Signore) D’Elia. Mario was a graduate of Ambler High School class of 1951. He served our country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict with rank of SP4. Mario was employed as a Lead Supervisor at Merck and Co. for 42 years until his retirement. She was a devoted member of St. Joseph Church in Ambler, a member of the Sons of Italy LRB Lodge #543 of Ambler, and the Filitalia Ambler Chapter. He enjoyed golfing, following the Philadelphia sports teams, spending time with his family, and his grand dog Alex. He is survived by his 3 children Gina Virkler and Henry of Norristown, Mario F. D’Elia, Jr. and Joan of Plymouth Meeting, Albert P. D’Elia and Joanne M. of Havertown, 6 grandchildren Gianna Rose, Alister Chapman, Mario F. III, Lauren Grace, Luke Anthony and Colin Albert, his sisters Mary Ridgway of Langhorne, Clara D’Elia of Lansdale, and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by siblings Michael, Albert “Birdie”, Anthony D’Elia, Jenny Baldasari, Florence Costagno, Eva Bevilacqua. Relatives and friends are invited to his Funeral Mass on Monday, December 31, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 16 S. Spring Garden St., Ambler. The Viewing will be Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 9-10 a.m. all at St. Joseph Church. Entombment St. Patrick Mausoleum.
