Robert C. Parsons of Lower Gwynedd

Robert C. Parsons, 92 of Lower Gwynedd, PA, formerly of Cuyahoga Falls, OH, passed away on December 28, 2018 at Spring House Estates. He was the son of the late H.G. Parsons and Pearl (Collier) Parsons. Born on March 28, 1926 and raised in Nashville, OH (Holmes County), Bob attended Nashville High School Class of 1944. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the Army and was initially stationed at Fort Benjamin, Harrison, IN. He was an AAF Air Crew Member trained as an Airplane Armorer Gunner on the B-17 Bomber often called the “flying fortress.” His training tour of duty included stops in Colorado, Nevada and Texas. In addition to receiving an Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Air Force in 1945, Bob was awarded various citations including the WWII Victory Medal.

Following the war, Bob attended The College of Wooster which launched his successful 30-year career in education as a teacher and principal in Holmesvill­e Schools (Southeast Local School district), high school principal at Dover High School (Dover City Schools district). Prior to retiring from education in 1980, he served as Administra­tive Principal of Cuyahoga Falls High School (Cuyahoga Falls City School district) for over 13 years. In addition to his profession­al career in education combined with raising his family, Bob served on the Village of Silver Lake Council, was a member of Rotary Internatio­nal, a lifetime Mason and member of the First United Methodist Church, Cuyahoga Falls and Upper Dublin Lutheran Church, Ambler.

In addition to his parents, Bob was predecease­d by his beloved wife Janice (Fulmer) Parsons with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. He was also predecease­d by his brother Edward C. Parsons. Bob is survived by two children, Richard ‘Rich’ (Vickie) Parsons and Deborah ‘Debbie’ (John) Israel and four granddaugh­ters, Carrie (Matt) Ackermann and Erin (Bill) Christian, Lauren (Wes) Hanna, Allison (Jake) Wylie and 7 great-grandchild­ren.

A Celebratio­n of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 19th from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. (Visitation), 11 a.m. – 12 noon (Service) with a lunch to follow at Upper Dublin Lutheran Church, 411 Susquehann­a Road, Ambler, PA. Interment will be private.
