Arlene O. Bergey, 95, formerly of Souderton and Lansdale, passed away on Thursday, January 7, 2021 in Dock Terrace in Towamencin Twp. She was the beloved wife of 55 years to the late Leroy Bergey who died in 2001.

Born in Perkasie, PA, she was a daughter of the late Leroy and Ellen Lovera (Hollenbach) Opdyke.

A homemaker for most of her life, in her early years she was employed as a sewing machine operator at the former Godshall-Koffel Pants Factory in Telford, and at a former towel factory in Hatfield.

Mrs. Bergey was a longtime member of Zwingli UCC Church in Souderton. In her free time she enjoyed having breakfast at local diners, treating herself and others to Asher’s nonpareils and chocolate-covered pretzels, and in her earlier years, shopping at Hess’s every Tuesday.

She is survived by two daughters: Deborah J. Baker of Lansdale, Cindy L. Roos of Harleysvil­le, her beloved granddaugh­ter, Allie L. Roos, two sisters: Shirley Cooper of Harleysvil­le, and Beverly Ketterer of Lewisville, TX. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Opdyke, and a sister, Pauline Kriebel.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 11 AM in the Sadler-Suess Funeral Home, 33 N. Main St., Telford, PA 18969. Face masks are required, and those attending are encouraged to wear blue, Arlene’s favorite color. Interment will follow in Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Prospectvi­lle. Memorial contributi­ons may be made in her memory to Zwingli UCC, 350 Wile Avenue, Souderton, PA 18964.
