Linda Jean (Pancoast) Schmierer of Gwynedd Estates, Ambler, PA, passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021 in Abington, PA. She was 77. Linda was the beloved wife of the late Robert E. Schmierer, with whom she had shared 48 years of marriage. Born in Pottstown, PA, Linda was the daughter of the late Garfield Sieber & Muriel (Brandt) Pancoast. A resident of Maple Glen from 1975 until 2019, Linda previously lived in Erdenheim and Glenside. She was a summer resident of Ocean City, NJ, where she worked for many years at The Cricket Box, and a winter resident of Hutchinson Island in Stuart, FL.

Raised in Collegevil­le, PA, Linda graduated from Collegevil­le Trappe High School, Trappe, PA, and Muhlenberg College, Allentown, PA. She earned a Masters degree in Education from West Chester University, West Chester, PA. She worked for many years as a teacher for the East Norristown School District and then as a substitute teacher for the Upper Dublin School District and Hatboro-Horsham School District. After more than a dozen years as a kindergart­en assistant teacher at Twin Spring Farm Day School in Ambler, she retired from teaching. Linda loved to sew, garden, and read, and was a long-time member of The Philadelph­ia Thimble Society, Thimble Collectors Internatio­nal, Maple Glen Garden Club, Queen Anne’s Lace Questers, and multiple book clubs. She was a member of Oreland Evangelica­l Presbyteri­an Church for more than 50 years, and was a long-time member of the church’s Priscilla Circle. Linda loved being by the ocean and collecting sea glass and shells; she was also an avid collector of thimbles, red glassware, and Santa figurines.

Linda is survived by two daughters, Tara L. Brown (Dan) of Oreland, PA, and Tracy S. Diehl (Craig) of Maple Glen, PA; one grandson, Tyler Brown; three granddaugh­ters, Amanda Brown, and Caitlin & Avery Diehl; and one sister, Susan George of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. A visitation will be held at Oreland Evangelica­l Presbyteri­an Church, 1119 Church Rd., Oreland, PA 19075 after 9:30 am on Wednesday, March 31, followed by funeral services at 10:30 am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributi­ons may be made in her name to Oreland Evangelica­l Presbyteri­an Church at the address above.
