Child sexual abuse lands Ambler man in state prison
NORRISTOWN » An Ambler man was sent to prison for sexually abusing two underage girls in Horsham Township.
Adan Quiroz, 41, of the 900 block of Welsh Road, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to seven to 14 years in a state correctional facility after he pleaded guilty to charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault and endangering the welfare of children in connection with inappropriate contact he had with two girls on multiple occasions between January 2016 and November 2017.
Quiroz knew the girls’ family and the inappropriate contact occurred while the girls were in his company on several occasions at a residence in Horsham Township, according to court documents. The girls were under the age of 13.
Judge Wendy G. Rothstein, who accepted a plea agreement in the case, also ordered Quiroz to complete three years’ probation following parole, meaning Quiroz will be under court supervision for 17 years. The three-year probationary term was mandatory under state law.
Quiroz, who will be under sex offender supervision during the parole and probationary periods, also faces a lifetime requirement to report his address to state police in order to comply with Pennsylvania’s Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act.
The judge ordered Quiroz to comply with all recommendations for sexual offender treatment.
Assistant District Attorney Bridget Gallagher sought a lengthy state prison term against Quiroz.
“This defendant is clearly a predator and preyed on them in their own home when they were both under the age of 13. A state prison sentence is the only way to address the seriousness of the defendant’s conduct,” Gallagher said. “This was incredibly sad and damaging for the (victims’) family.”
Gallagher explained that reaching a negotiated sentence allowed the girls to avoid having to testify and re-live the trauma in a courtroom in front of their abuser.
With the charges, prosecutors alleged Quiroz sexually assaulted one of the girls and touched the second girl in a sexual manner. According to the criminal complaint filed by Horsham Detective Michael Peter, the inappropriate contact also included Quiroz forcing the girls to shower with him while they were in his company.
Other charges of rape, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, indecent exposure and corruption of minors were dismissed against Quiroz as part of the plea agreement.
