Montgomery County authorizes nearly $1M in bridge repair contracts
Structures located in Abington, Cheltenham townships
NORRISTOWN » Nearly $1 million in engineering contracts related to bridge repairs were authorized during a Montgomery County Board of Commissioners meeting.
The three contracts presented to commissioners covered “engineering, environmental permitting and construction consultation” for bridge replacements in Abington and Cheltenham townships.
A roughly $366,141 agreement with Michael Baker International, of Fort Washington, covered work for a bridge on Easton Road, located over Sandy Run in Abington Township.
County officials previously advertised a request for proposals related to the project in which it received 36 views and six submissions, according to the contract. The Montgomery County Department of Assets and Infrastructure’s roads and bridges division endorsed the Fort Washington-based bid.
Also in Abington Township, an approximately $331,168 contract with Whitney, Bailey, Cox & Magnani LLC., of Wayne, was approved for a bridge located over the Pennypack Creek, on Moredon Road.
A previously advertised request for proposals netted 34 views and nine submissions from firms, according to the contract. The Delaware County firm was endorsed by the county’s roads and bridges division.
The same company acquired another roughly $270,984 contract for a county bridge on Rices Mill Road, located “over branch of Tacony Creek in Cheltenham Township.”
A request for proposals for the venture had inquiries from 36 firms, according to the contract. Thirteen bids were submitted. The Wayne-based firm’s proposal was supported by the county’s roads and bridges division.
