Margaret Sorber Kershaw
Margaret Sorber Kershaw (Peg) peacefully passed away on March 3, 2022 at Fort Washington Estates in Fort Washington, PA.
Peg was born on August 22, 1923 in Germantown, PA to Charles Ralph Sorber and Evelyn King Sorber. She and her two brothers, Chuck and Don, represented the ninth generation of Sorbers in this country and the last to be born and raised in Germantown. While in the Germantown elementary school, Peg became lifelong friends with Jeanne Lenton (later Jeanne Lenton Tracey).
Peg graduated from Germantown High School in 1941, attended business school, and worked for the Federal Reserve Bank in Philadelphia. In 1946 she married William R. Kershaw, also of Germantown. They had two sons, Peter and Paul, before moving to Jenkintown, PA in 1958.
While living in Jenkintown, Peg was actively involved in the Jenkintown United Methodist Church, Jenkintown Music Theater, and Jenkintown Parent Teacher Association. In 1970, she returned to the workforce by joining International Marketing Service in Ambler, PA.
Peg entered the ACTS Retirement Life Communities in 2001. After spending twenty years at Gwynedd Estates in Ambler, PA she spent the last four months of her life at Fort Washington Estates.
Peg was an avid reader and bridge player. However, her first love was music. She enjoyed the opera, musical shows, and music from the big band era. For years she sang in the church choir and for the music theater.
Peg is survived by her two sons, daughters-in-law Irene and Janet, grandson Jared and granddaughterin-law Shelley, granddaughter Blair, granddaughter Sadie, granddaughter Grace and grandson-in-law TJ, and great grandchildren Ezekiel and Skylar. A memorial service, to celebrate her life, is being planned. KIRK & NICE FUNERAL HOME
