Driver charged in crash that killed Abington man

3 others critically injured; teen charged with DUI

A Huntingdon Valley man was speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana when he caused a single vehicle crash in Cheltenham that claimed the life of his friend who was a passenger in the car, according to prosecutor­s.

Alexander Evan Koenigsber­g, 18, of the 2500 block of B. Walton Road, was arrested on Friday on charges of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana, homicide by vehicle, DUI, aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, reckless driving, careless driving and speeding in connection with a Jan. 23, 2022, crash that claimed the life of 20-year-old Nicholas Bednarek of Abington.

Koenigsber­g’s arrest was announced on Friday by Montgomery County District Attorney
