$60,000 grant awarded for Cressbrook Property Improvement Project

State Rep. Nancy Guenst announced that Hatboro was awarded a $60,000 state grant to support the Cressbrook Property Improvement Project in the borough.

The grant comes through the Department of Community and Economic Development. The funds will be used for material purchases and construction costs associated with the project.

“I’m excited to see state funding support the work to improve and preserve this incredible historic property, making sure our local history is available for the community to explore and enjoy,” said Guenst, DMontgomery/Phila.

The Cressbrook Property, also known as the Isaac Walton House, was built in 1724 and was one of the first settlements in Hatboro. The grant will help support necessary repairs including installation of an alarm system, removal of lead paint, installation of a new boiler, and foundation, exterior and roof repairs. The property will eventually be restored to serve as a museum and community gathering space.

“The Borough of Hatboro is extremely grateful to be awarded this funding and we cannot wait to begin the restoration and preservation of Cressbrook to assure this very important part of Hatboro’s history lives on for residents to enjoy for centuries to come,” said Diane Hegele, Hatboro borough manager.
